Click Only Gators link to get the whole breakdown of the Muschamp conference but here's a teaser from the article:

“I would say inconsistency at quarterback an receiver. I think those two positions have not been what we’ve needed them to be. You go back to our first year when we got here, John Brantley was a senior and Tyler Murphy was an underclassman. We recruited Jacoby [Brissett] and Jeff, both to come in as freshman quarterbacks. John got hurt the second quarter of the Alabama game; threw the ball extremely well in the first half, over 200 yards passing against probably the best defense in college football that year. Him coming off the injury was never healthy as the year rolled forward, so we had very inconsistent performances on top of missing some playing time.

“Our second year, Jeff was in his first year as a starter. We were very good on defense. We were very good on special teams. We were a very physical run football team. Quite frankly, as the head coach, made decisions that we were going to play to our strengths and that’s run the football, play action, use the quarterback’s legs in the run game. It afforded us 11 wins, so it worked.

“I don’t think it’s really fair to judge last year from the standpoint of we went through three quarterbacks. We went through a lot of different offensive line combinations, especially at the tackle position, and we struggled mightily throwing the football.

“Going into this year, I felt very comfortable as far as coming out of training camp with how we were throwing the football. I really did. You look at our first couple ballgames, I thought we were very efficient throwing the football, especially the second half [and overtime] of the Kentucky game. For whatever reason, we have lost some confidence. Whether it’s dropped passes, whether it’s timing, whether it’s forced throws, and we’ve had way too much inconsistency as far as ball security at the quarterback position and turnovers. That’s why we’re going with Treon.”

How could any coach feel comfortable coming out of camp with Driskel at QB? You could tell Roper was lying his a** off when he was talking about how Driskel was picking things up so good etc.

To be fair every single reporter and fan that attended open practices was basically raving about the offense. Jeff Driskel is the ultimate practice player.

So none of this was his fault.

Would you expect anything different?

More BS from the village idiot. I guess we're the only school with underclassmen playing on offense. I guess in Muschamp's tiny mind unless you're loaded with seniors the offense is going to suck. Every Saturday I see teams with freshman playing QB, WR, & RB and they have no trouble moving the ball up and down the field.

Thats why we are going with Treon....no its not. Your playing him to attempt to save face....he would love to keep Driskel as starter...

Danny was not a good practice quarterback. According to this standard, he should never have seen the field. How many times do you have to see your good practice quarterback muck up a game to know that something must change? I guess the answer is up to point of losing your job. It is all on him.

I never bought that last year or this year. Every time 24/7 or one of them did a play by play in open practices Driskel made quite a few mistakes. You always read led the receiver just a bit too much. led the receiver out of bounds, overthrow, would have been a sack in a real game etc. I do agree their fluff pieces always tried to make Driskel sound good.

Gets their attention, doesn't it?

It does. Surrounding them with assistant coaches who can teach skills does, too.

Every year since Muschamp has been at the helm we have players stating they have a bad taste in their mouth from the past season. As the season progresses we never hear about that any longer. Also the loud mouth players who make one tackle and start acting like they dont see the scoreboard which most time has UF down by 20 points. Mike Taylor comes to mind. Look liked a total punk against Bama and runs his mouth about an opponent being scared. REALLY.

One last rant , according to all these Gator sport writers JD was injured last year why we lost and he didn't throw one INT in spring training . JD lost the the game by himself to Miami , we were on our way to losing to UT until he was injured. If an arm chair QB can see that how is it possible that a million dollar coach cant????

Because he sucks ass.

That pretty much sums it up. I couldn't put it better.

Mostly this is accurate, but the reason for the issues is coaching and management of our program. Our defense is much worse, our special teams at times much worse, and of offense is worse. We were lucky to have one good year where in the bowl game we were exposed. Lack of players, lack of development, and way too many bad mistakes in almost every game.
