This is Iris Dement performing with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at the Ryman in Nashville on Will The Circle Be Unbroken 3, I had never heard of her before this. She also sang with John Prine and many others.

Paul Siebel died yesterday, age 84. I wasn't real familiar with him other than knowing his songs were recorded by many other more famous artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Waylon Jennings, Leo Kottke, Jerry Jeff Walker, etc. Stage fright kept Siebel out of the limelight, he never craved live performing. That's too bad. RIP. This is a great song, Long Afternoons.

Not your typical combination of artists one would expect to perform together.....Clapton and Pavarotti. This is excellent however.

These guys have aged a bit...well, a lot. Still sound close to what they did 40 years ago. The members are in their 70's for the most part. Not bad for some older dudes.

I originally posted just the one. Then I found this same combination doing another ZZ Top song so here it is too. I've known about Orianthi (girl guitarist) for a long time, but never knew she played with Gibbons before. The two gals do quite well.;)

Way the hell back in my mid to late 20s I lived in Raleigh, NC and I spent at least two nights a week at a little joint known as The Longbranch. Many good memories and very bad decisions had their birth here. This was the place to be for country music and this was when line dancing was in its heyday, so finding girls to dance with wasn't difficult.

I was a decent two step dancer, but I was particularly good at waltzes and slow songs. These two songs never failed to get the shy wallflowers onto the floor. The first, because of the type. The second because of the lyrics.

Memphis is loaded with music this week. The Blues Hall of Fame inductions were Wed., the Blues Music Awards were Thurs., and the International Blues Challenge competition started Friday with the finals Monday.
Blues Rock Artist and Blues Rock Album winners Albert Castiglia and Mike Zito are touring together through Florida next week. Florida's Selwyn Birchwood won Song of the Year.

My old hippie music really doesn't get any better than that
That is a very impressive group of folks on that stage. There are likely quite a few in here that won't recognize them all or what groups they were originally in.
