Did I hear correctly that while giving the extra year, they were not going to allow the increase in scholarships? So its the big middle finger to incoming freshman?

That's incorrect. They're going to allow larger rosters, to accommodate incoming freshman. They're also going to allow scholarships to be broken up differently - so a kid who got a 50% scholarship may only get 25%, for example. I imagine most of these kids will just move on unless they are a starter (w/ no shot of going professional in whatever sport they play).

What a mess, its going to be a major pain for the next 4-5 years since all athletes now get an extra year. Don't like it.
