I've noticed some new names and faces in the PF lately. Election season tends to have that effect. Most of us know each other pretty well, and humanizing each other helps keep the vitriol down. In that spirit, I invite our old cadre to introduce yourselves to the newbies and for the newbies to tell us old salts about yourselves. I'll begin. I'm a fiscally conservative, socially moderate, civil rights fanatic (especially when it comes to the 1st Amendment). I am a strong proponent of federalism and consider myself a conservative libertarian. I love history. It was my undergrad major at UF. I read history voraciously. I believe understanding the past gives us a window to the future. I went to law school at UF, and earned the book awards for Constitutional Law and for Political and Civil Rights. From a legal standpoint, those are my passions. I began my career as a prosecutor, then joined the corporate world, and now I work for a non-profit. I am the child of immigrants. English was not my first language (although it is now my best language by far). My skin is white but I never identified with "White" America. I grew up poor. Attended UF on a National Merit Scholarship. I'm in my 40's, happily married (after a long run of partying a little too hard), and have a 4 year old son. I want him to grow up and live in a country with freedom, liberty, and economic opportunity. I am trying to be a better Christian. Alex.
