Remember when The Turtle was a stodgy old Never Trumper who was skeptical of the MAGA Movement and was regularly accused of trying to slow-walk Trump's agenda? This dude has SEEN THE LIGHT in a major, MAGA way, and is now stoking the coals on the Trump Train like nobody's business. Obviously, he did a sterling job of managing the whole impeachment situation, and of shepherding through the Kavanaugh nomination. And speaking of Supreme Court nominees, check this out. Mitch went on Fox News with Brett Baier and had this supremely mic-dropping moment: Let the Dems accuse him of hypocrisy all they want. Who cares?? Okay, we're hypocrites. And we control the Supreme Court, suckers! Jokes aside, McConnell does take a stab at explaining why it arguably would not be hypocritical for the GOP Senate to confirm a Supreme Court nominee between now and November, even though they refused to do that in the last year of Obama's presidency. He says the distinction is that then, one party controlled the Senate and the other had the White House. Whereas now both are in the same hands. Gotta be honest, somebody would have to explain to me why that's a good argument. I thought the general principle behind refusing to confirm Garland was that an election was imminently approaching, and the people should be allowed to weigh in on which party would be the one appointing and confirming the nominee. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to me that if we're being consistent, the same principle would apply if a Supreme Court vacancy occurred between now and the upcoming election. But guess what? I don't care! Like Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." What, we should miss an opportunity to lock down the Supreme Court for a generation, for the sake of "consistency"? Uhhh, no. Sorry, lefties. We play to #$%@ing win over here. If we win the coin toss, we want the ball and we're gonna score. With MAGA Mitch, of all people, as our quarterback. Who knew?
