Jabar Gaffney - Football - Florida Gators Honorable mention to Eric Wilbur and Will Hill
Something about that number 10 for us has always led to trouble. Gaffney, Hill and don't forget Monty Grow. Hill was a bust and got tackled from behind by Aaron Murray on what should've been a walk-off pick-6. So I'd actually put Grow neck and neck with Gaffney. Both had some great plays. Probably a narrow edge for Grow because I'm not convinced Jabar would've had the foresight to leave his kids in the car while he went inside the strip club. He never struck me as the responsible type.
And we have a winner!
Jabbar Gaffney held or holds just about every freshman receiving record in the NCAA books. He holds the UF record for most 100 yard games (14), is the only UF receiver with back to back 1000 yard receiving seasons, 7th in receptions, fourth in TDs, and 2nd in yards, all done in two years.
I still can’t believe we got that call.
It was a favorable and unexpected call for us for sure. But the way it was broken down made perfect sense. If Palmer had instead rushed for the touchdown, it wouldn’t matter how long he had possession once the ball was in his hands and crossed the goal line. Even bang bang would go to the offense. The split second JG had it, the touchdown—like those kids’ jewelry a few months prior—was his.
exactly. you can fumble into the end zone. you cannot fumble in the end zone. besides, we know, and they know, that Sos would have scored on second and goal third and goal and fourth and goal and fifth and goal and sixth and goal
Not complaining, but I still don’t think it was a catch. If that play occurred on the 5, and Vols recovered the “fumble”, I bet there would be a different consensus.
That's always been my argument as well. It was second and goal with :20 left and we'd marched down the field. Barring a penalty or sack, Spurrier had two more plays there. We were winning that game regardless.
if he caught it on the 5 he probably wouldn't have immediately put his hands up for the touchdown sign.
Uhmmmmm....... Maybe we’re talking about different plays? I don’t exactly see him doing the td signal there, unless the TD signal that day consisted of getting pushed to the ground and raising one hand.
