Yes, sir and discuss. O'Dome Court to Bear Billy Donovan's Name - Florida Gators
The thing that stood out the most was that, as we all know but is seldomly reported, Jeremy Foley still has too much to do with UF business.
Don’t stop there. Rename it the Donodome.
Much deserved. Although I would love to see it happen, I don't think our program will ever reach the heights that it did when Billy was here. He brought us from a program that would hang NIT runner-up and sweet 16 banners in the O'dome, to a team that could hoist national championship ones. He never got enough national (or even local) credit as he should have. Anyway, as I said, much deserved.
The naming is great and of course your idea of "too much" is different than the leadership of the athletic department and I bet many donors.
BOUT DAMN TIME
Well deserved recognition
Can we rename the head coaching position for him, too? Mike White won’t mind, he’ll find work elsewhere.
Foley, be gone you foul demon. The fact that you are somehow behind this move, even though it's honoring one of the great human beings in Gator history, immediately makes me repulsed by the rank odor of your mitts being all over it. Go. A. Way.
Fantastic! Billy D is the Steve Spurrier of Gators basketball history. Both coaches took those programs from a mediocre (at best) history and brought our programs to Elite status. Plus, Billy Donovan Court sounds a helluva lot better than Exacto knife dome or whatever the place is called now.
They should’ve also said “here’s a contract. Welcome back.”
I have tears in my eyes. This is so deserving to a man who gave his heart and soul for the Gators, Gainesville, and Gator Nation. I wish I could go.
Always this snippy attitude from this horse's ass. We are going to get rid of you *******s.
It should be renamed the "Fooley Promised Me A New Facility in 1998 But Didnt Do It Til I Quit Dome" .
Foley's involvement in our athletics program,
First, that was a rough start to the article. When the first words were, "Scott Stricklin and Jeremy Foley...," I was looking for the sentence to continue with, "just got arrested," or something encouraging like that. Just kidding! Sort of. Okay, not really kidding. Anyway, certainly Billy D. is worthy of special recognition. It's true, like Fooley says in the article, that he is the coach who put Florida basketball on the map. But are we on the map to stay, or will we regress to the mean? If Florida basketball is the House that Billy Built, is it a permanent building or a temporary structure? In my view it's still a little too early to say. Personally I'd wait for a little more consistent success from Mike White (i.e. getting past the opening weekend of the Tournament, at least) before declaring Florida basketball to be a regularly contending dynasty that was started by Billy Donovan.
