O WAY CO-CAINES
I vaguely remember during the Spurrier and Meyer years when I used to be super confidence before a game like this. After Muschamp and McElwain I am scared we will find a way to lose. I swear those guys broke something in me.
I think he'll be a huge upgrade in regular pass D. Judging by our stats, you can imagine that's mostly what granthem cares about. I'm not sure how anyone can think we'll be fine (unless 'fine' is 65th in a category) with a smaller guy that has played very, very little LB. He's a RS Fr, but a true freshman playing LB. The scary thing about Enos is that a screen game is the type of thing that attacks a LB in a man scheme. He'll motion a WR across the formation, have a TE do a drag to bring the safety and then screen to that side, which could then basically only be a LB on that entire side of the formation. That's exactly what happened before bc Collins was similar in being predictable of leaving people alone. It's especially scary, bc we might actually be the only team in college football that doesn't have a 'normal' RB screen so we're not giving Burney many looks in practice. Dean is legit. Was legit as a true freshman in what is probably his 3rd best position. There's a really good chance he starts at his 3rd different spot next year; partly bc he can. Stiner is mediocre at best. Him playing over Davis is one reason our D was bad for Gator standards last year. We definitely aren't worlds better than um there. Bandy is on the same level as our CBs and their safeties will be just as good or better when it's stiner and JT. We'll have a big advantage at the other CB if Marco has returned to form.
This thread has gone so far off the rails I agree with the earlier poster, start a new one that's only game related
Speed and aggressiveness with no play recognition needed. His specialty. In a man scheme, the RB empties to his side and it's usually his responsibility. He was probably supposed to watch for a drag some of the time, but we all know VJ didn't care about stuff like that when there might be someone in front of him to hit. The way to be it is shoot it behind the lineman before they get their heads around and mark guys. Too tentative and and/or a guy that avoids going through blocks and you could be in trouble. That's why a guy like KJ, who was just as fast as VJ, probably wouldn't blow up screens like him. Enos throws some misdirection in his screens (vs just targeting DL on a passrush) so I wouldn't like VJ in this situation either. This is when you want a guy like J Davis.
I see at least 1 big pick in this game because of our defensive pressure. May even go for 6. Grantham will try to stop the run early a d force J William's to beat us through the air. That works to our favor. I do however worry about a 3rd and long screen w' 2 missed tackles hurting. I do believe we will also have some 1st game gaffes on D but we shut them down most of the game. Go Gators!
Are you saying you wanted the first turn?
If they’re suspended 3 games then they’ve likely failed about 4-5 of them. We have one of the more lenient policies in the country.
I hope you guys are right and we just steamroll them but I have seen too much crazy crap since the regular series with them ended to think it will be that easy.
I'm pretty sure one failure is one game, a second failures 3 games and a third failure is 6 games. not sure that anyone has ever gotten 6 games although they were rumors that Percy did and that he was allowed to serve it half a game at a time.
I don’t think our offense will have an easy time, especially early. I’d only expect them to put up 21-28 points. I just don’t think our defense will have much trouble, especially with their extremely green OL.
Wouldn’t be a complete Florida Miami thread without the Jarvis Williams hit from 1986. RIP Jarvis.
Last I read, you don’t get a one game suspension until at least your third failed test. That was during the Chump years, but I doubt it’s changed. Here’s a link. We’re basically dopers paradise. SEC Football: Grading the Failed Drug Polices of Each SEC Football Program
Yep last season helped a little but the wounds are still there. My imagination can come up with a worst case scenario in a heart beat. I used to have O&B glasses welded to my face. Muschump torched em and butters grinded off the excess
I don’t get the opinion of oh my they’re going to screen us to death. We are acting like Enos walks on water. If he were as good as everyone thinks he would’ve been OC at Alabama where they crap out 5 stars. Is it gonna be easy, no. I am not going to fear a RS Frosh QB who had 7 passes to his name and a first time HC who only became HC because they were desperate after Saint Richt. At one time (24 hrs) was the HC at effing Temple. Gators win 28–9 type game. If this game were later in the year it would mirror the FSU game.
“Dopers” what a “get off my lawn” or “damn kids and their rock n roll” type of statement...I wish it was more lenient
He doesn't just run screens. He loves to put TEs wide also and get a safety stuck on them.
Again, you need to have a QB. They don’t! Still doesn’t move the needle for me
I hope we don't give him time to think about hitting any mid-range stuff or longer.
