What baffles me beyond belief is that despite getting beat in 2 of our 3 previous games I thought we had at least tackled better than the last 2 years....WTF happened today? I did notice a better pass rush and maybe better coverage but it's like this team cannot fire on all cylinders to save it's life....

No one said he sucks.
Who said that?

Pretty easy to be 19/21 when most of your passes are sideways and or behind the los. Right?

201 yds passing isn't "eating" or lighting it up or scaring any DB's either.
Especially when, It's against State.

You're just trolling ....right?
No way, any serious football player/coach/analyst/fan could have the opinion that 201 yds is "eating". Right???
Mince words and split hairs all you want, Mertz is a good QB and will continue to be. Teams will have to recognize that or he’ll eat them up. Dude WILL move the ball.

I think he's okay against AWFUL teams, but I expect him to get his ass kicked against UGA, Texas, etc. He has serious physical limitations. He ain't eating up any defense with a pulse.

You meant to say our OL? Given time Mertz will eat. Put him behind UGA’s line and he’s every bit as good as South Park Carson, IMO
Given time, Mertz will throw at or near the LOS. It is what he does. He has done this since his days at Wisconsin. Defenses have proven since last season they simply do not respect him as a passer. The scary part is, he actually pushes the ball downfield at UF far more than he did at Wisconsin and he hardly does it at all here.

He's a mediocre QB getting terrible coaching. He has a good head and feel for the game but, his arm talent is average to a little less than average.
I see better QB's in lesser conferences, every Saturday.

I'll never understand why Napier even considered bringing him to Gainesville with the enormous QB talent he struck out on.

Don't get me wrong. Mertz is a hard worker, a model team player and from all accounts, a fantastic individual.

Wife asked me during game “shouldn’t we be tackling the runner lower? Why do we tackle up high? He carries our players 5 yards before they get him down?”
—hmmm…

Hmmm... seems like my 5th grade coach taught us about center of mass and tackling below it. Maybe 6th grade.

The one on Denson was the worst I’ve seen in a while. The announcers were trying to describe why it was called by saying he had his arm around the waist of the receiver…while showing the replay showing no such thing. It was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.

Kind of wild that this is the most lopsided win that we’ve had at Miss St. I believe in my life.(43 years old) Saying that, any other coach that we had in my life, would’ve easily won this game by 4 TD’s or more. Billy has 0 killer instinct. This was a horrible State team, maybe the worst in my life.
Has anyone seen Billy lose his **** on the sideline like Mullen used to with Grantham? Has Billy ever gotten in a player's or coach's face?

It's a rhetorical question folks and one glaring deficiency in our program. Zero energy/passion/sense of urgency/sense of GAF. As good as the O played, the D has played "sewer bad" 3 out of 4 weeks now. Our 2 losses were against teams we were expected to beat. Just wait until we start playing real SEC teams.

Is your wife in need of a part-time job to earn some extra $? Clearly, we have a need on D to learn effective tackling techniques. We tackle like they tackle a calf at the rodeo.

Maybe they could furlough the “game changer coordinator” to make room for a “asks appropriate questions about tackling techniques coordinator”.

This dude doesn’t give a damn, he knows he’s getting fired, and he knows 26 million is coming his way.
