“The Gators opened the season ranked No. 14. By the end of it, coach Dan Mullen had been fired and they finished 6-7, their first losing season since 2017. It was also the program's first loss to an in-state school not named Florida State or Miami since Stetson in 1938. And the Knights won the game despite a long injury list to some of their top players, including quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who is no longer with the team after transferring to UCLA.“

Well we all know how that worked out for Stetson.

Look out world. The Central Florida Knights are coming… with a new fragrance. It smells like, well, nighttime in central Florida: musty, moist, middle aged women in flip flops, tiki torches, bud light with a lemon, a hint of the highway. You can almost hear the Jimmy Buffet playing and feel the eager overweight cougars coming in for a grope.

Napier's biggest uphill battle is going to be trying to instill discipline in a program with a deeply entrenched disregard for it, be it before or after the whistle. Slop and poor impulse control are guaranteed to cost a game or two over a season, yet no one here ever seems to give a **** or learn better.

Billy will fix lack of discipline quickly or they won’t play. Lack of talent will take a little longer, but you can be sure laziness in recruiting and developing players will NOT be a problem any longer.

Steady game to game improvement is all we can realistically expect to see given the shiit show team Mullen produced. Anything more will just be gravy at this point. At least Billy got to see what he really has to work with tonight.

Well, the "directional" school did pretty well plus considering their #1 QB (Gabriel) was out and they had to start a freshman QB. The City of Orlando is very supportive of UCF and they have a lot of positives going for them. I think within the next 10 years they will be a team to be reconnened with and on the same level as the Gators, Canes & Noles. Some of their 3 start recruits have turned into 5 star performers and they are doing well in assessing talent.
BTW, Mullin was mentioned for our OC.....the board about blew up. Our BOD did not like his personality or massive ego. Word on the street is that we are signing Georgia's DC but that he won't be announced until after their bowl game. Let's look forward to a much better football year in 2022. Sure hope Shorter is going to be ok. He is a very good player with a bright future if no residual injuries.

Lol you're high if you think UCF will be on par with the big three in florida. They already had their time and no one cared about them, they screamed about it quite a bit too. Which is the reason I hate that school and its fans. They do this seemingly every year. Play absolutely NO ONE all year, then get up for one meaningless bowl game, and people overreact if they beat a power 5 conference.

This game wasn't about UCF being a good team so much as Florida being a bad one. No credit to UCF at all. They did 'pretty well' because this florida team just fired its coach and the guy coaching him is a lame duck that wouldn't just run pierce in their face all night. Had he done that Florida wins easy. They had a loser attitude from a loser coach that wasn't going to be purged in a few games. This game means absolutely nothing for either school. Sure the pansy UCF fans will claim some sort of championship. But in the long run this game means squat.

I was hoping for better, but this final game of the 2021 Gator season was sadly typical. We were ineffective, inconsistent and weak, and convincingly beaten by a team that on paper had lower rated talent.

It's over, and that's a good thing. Maybe some of the players and coaches will be able to critically assess their effort, and commit to working harder and smarter in the future.

The eternal question about this team ... and I really mean this question will persist forever in college football, and never be satisfactorily answered ... is How the heck did THIS team come so close to beating Alabama, who at the moment are looking good for becoming the national champs?

A triple option QB with 36 pass attempts in a game, and this staff still doesn't understand why they are unemployed. Good riddance!

We lost this game for the same reasons we lost to KY, LSU, SC, Missouri and nearly lost to Samford and F$U. Emory is inaccurate and a poor decision maker, we make a ton of mistakes including penalties, bad angles, poor tackling. The only surprise to me was how their DL outplayed our OL. Our DL wore down late because of depth and our inability to control the ball.

And you cannot overlook UCF. We all knew they’d treat this like their Super Bowl. Our size/recruiting advantage was clear, but effort and discipline and actual coaching make a huge difference.

So the mighty Gators don’t get to walk away with a “winning record” and must endure the crowing of UCF claiming some measure of relevance because we are so un-coached and inept. Good. Soak it in. Learn the lessons. Make the necessary changes. Listen to Billy…

UCF can clamor all they want about this huge win. They were playing:

A 6-6 team which record is probably worse than that.
No head coach and damn glad he is gone
Not to mention a staff that will probably have a hard time landing jobs elsewhere
No depth, opt outs, and Transfer Portal watchers
And a continuous undisciplined, poorly coached football team

So there's your measuring stick UCF. Who knows what the demeanor of this team was. I am sure we were hearing a lot of motivated talk from the staff. Will give credit to the players that stayed and tried.

As Bob Seager would say.....turn the page.

Hopefully keeping the skid marks to coach one more game didn’t just destroy the energy that CBN was building

Ineptitude on display for all to see

The last chapter of a not very good book. It had a few good parts, but overall not memorable and to be sold at your next garage sale or given away to Goodwill.
I watched last night, hoping for a win as always, but really just watching to see who would show up and who would mail it in. In many ways, a loss is good for Napier and I have no doubt he will take advantage.
Time to start the next book.
