Hello Gator fans! Sooner here. As you are probably aware, OU has made an offer to Mullen to become our OC. Is this a good move? Would you hire him as an OC? Any insights you can share on his capabilities. Thanks in advance!

Good luck with that. His aka is Cousin Eddie for a reason.

He came up with some good game plans. He was decent at making in game adjustments. He was bad about sitting players that were in his doghouse. He was also stubborn and would often refuse go with the hot RB but rather the one he wanted to succeed (cause he's so smart). I would give him a B as an OC.

He has a lazy streak.

I’d take him at Fl. as OC, bit of a lazy recruiter, arrogant but the guy can coach offense.
He also had generational talent...

As our OU fan here clearly remembers by watching Major Wright take a OU player's head off

Though guess that's defense. He had Percy having, tim tebow, some murderer, Louis Murphy etc

He’s a good play caller . If he has a QB that can run the backs will probably not be a big fan. Dan loves QB power regardless of down and distance . It’s easy to bait him into running the QB with a light box and give the safeties the c gaps . He was at his best here when we had Trask . Thought he was subpar when Chris Leak was our QB and anyone could’ve called plays with Tim and Percy on the field with the Pounceys up front .

A place like OU is a perfect recipe for him...talent rich, endless $$$, hungry fan base, desperate D-minded Head Coach. Y'all are gonna do well with him.

The way he handled Trask reminded me of the Spurrier era. So Mullen can be a great OC.

But, the other QB had to get hurt before he even gave Trask a shot.

Like I said prior, he's too stubborn. If he could put his ego aside, he could be a great OC.

Initially, thoughts seem generally positive. Why was he fired?
Danny was a simple country boy , one might say a cockeyed optimist that got caught up in the high stakes game of gator football and international intrigue . Love , lust and unbridled enthusiasm are ultimately what led to his downfall.

muLLLLLLLen sucks ballz

His offense is stupid and requires incredible talent to be successful. He has gotten a lot of credit for being a great OC but the honest truth is his reputation was built on a stacked roster that he had no hands in recruiting. Once he was left to his own demise recruiting suffered.

His recruiting sucks. He is lazy and will not help much on that front.

So basically this is what you get...a bullchit reputation of being a great OC but in reality he is going to call nothing but option plays and run the QB until he is hurt...and not add any value to recruitment. And because he has that reputation you are going to end up paying more for it. You should probably go find a young up and comer vs a dbag like muLLLLLLLen.

Good luck with that.

His second time around, he said he would break down the door to the SEC championship.
