He sucks ass, and is a freaking weirdo. We all hated the hire and rejoiced when he was canned. I never want to see him near our program again.

But while we're on the subject, how bout you take Napier off our hands as well.

OU has made an offer to Mullen to become our OC. Is this a good move? Would you hire him as an OC?
Forget Mullen. He’s trash and he smells like 3-day old fish. What you need is a real good play-calling OC, a hidden gem in the coaching world. His name is Billy Napier.

dammit Durty got it first…

And which of those years were the Original Taggart at FSU and Thumbhead coaching Tinerc?

Werid.
You already know the answer.
I won't repeat it, because you don't care about the answer.
Because you don't care about the answer, you will continue to nag and poopoo all things remotely positive about the Gators.
It's what you do.
We get it.

Guys, I feel we’re going about this the wrong way. If mulllllen gets an actual job, I don’t have to see his stupid face on ESPN anymore. Additionally, we’d be hamstringing a conference opponent.

To answer the original question, yes, he’s a great choice for OC. Brilliant play…

I would recommend y’all go hard after Napier. Generational play caller and has a process that is tops in the industry.

So.. It was more a question of attitude than politics...
As an OC.....meh...sometimes he would hit a HR.....Most of the time our offense would go stagnant for 2-3 quarters of a game against inferior opponents and leave you scratching your head....He's lazy as a turd when it comes to personnel both staff and players and don't forget his best 2 years here were with Butters offensive recruits and when they started running out of eligibility.

If you want an offense that can threaten opposing defenses from anywhere on the field I'd look elsewhere. And if you are considering his first 2 years here as productive on offense consider he inherited Kyle Pitts, Van Jefferson, Freddie Swain, Josh Hammond Kadarius Toney, Trevon Grimes, Kyle Trask and our best offensive line of the last 15 years in 2018 plus Lamichael Perine, Jordan Scarlett, and Damien Pierce....every one of those guys are playing in the NFL or were drafted(at least 3 of the Olinemen)...

I'm pretty sure I could have coached that offense to win 10 or more games...

Great as a talent evaluator. Had Matt Corral and Ja'mar Chase committed when he got the job and let both get away because Chase didn't have SEC speed and traded Corral for Emory Jones.

You be the judge.

Like everyone else in the past, hire him and you'll regret it. Big time.

Hmmm, let me see.

Won't play the best players. Kyle Trask would have never seen the field if Franks had not been injured.
Damien Pierce. Had only like 6-7 touches a game.
Loves to vacation at the beach during Recruiting Season.
Has no balz to stand up to his staff. Todd Grantham had him on his knees and he went down literally with the ship.
If you are a Star Wars fan, even makes Darth Vader cringe.

Just a few items. Just listen to him on BSPN. If that makes you go "WTF" then just imagine that on your campus every day. That should just about sum it up for you. But hey, hear his wife is a good kisser.

Hello Gator fans! Sooner here. As you are probably aware, OU has made an offer to Mullen to become our OC. Is this a good move? Would you hire him as an OC? Any insights you can share on his capabilities. Thanks in advance!
As you have seen, you are gonna get a mix bag from this board. My honest opinion and all my personal dislikes aside, Mullen is a very good OC. He knows the X's and O's of offense. He does like the sideways game a bit but I think he will turn it lose downfield if he thinks he has a QB that can do that. But that's not his first choice.

His first choice is RPO, bubble screens and he likes him some running QB's. The best ex. I can give of this is his stubborn commitment to Franks when when we had Trask. Trask was a pure passer and clearly heads and shoulders better at reading defenses from a passing perspective than Franks but Mullen was more interested in his first choice of offense which wasn't suited for Trask. I think he would do well at OU as DC's that takeover as the HBC really need someone that can take the offense over and Dan can do that. However, he is lazy, arrogant and just won't recruit on his own. If you have the recruiting covered and bring Dan in as a one time sell with a player to finish the deal it might work. My two cents. HE IS NOT HBC material.

Definitely.

Napier is the one you want. He has an uncanny feel for the game. He seems to know what the defense will call two plays in advance.

He will not hesitate to pile on as many points as possible and his offense can score from anywhere on the field.

His energy on and off the field is legendary. It's infectious.

We would hate to lose him but he deserves a shot at the big leagues in Ok.

Initially, thoughts seem generally positive. Why was he fired?
Mainly because he didn’t want to be here. He was burning out and became very combative. Surreptitiously flirted with the NFL and quit recruiting. He had come out multiple times and said the college game had changed and he didn’t like it.

Also, he was fired (mostly) because of his defensive coordinator. Grantham was terrible and kept every team we played in the game. Its taken 3 additional years after he was gone for our defense to learn to tackle and set the edge.

Mullen sucks. I was happy when he left Gainesville the first time and did not want him back the second time.

Third and…Grant Them.
For much of Saturday afternoon, I was convinced Grant Them was on the Gator sideline again.

As an OC he’s good. As a head coach he’s trash. But he does not recruit. So you will need somebody else to pick up his slack in that department.

He prides himself on being a “Quarterback whisperer “ but while at UF he seemed to prefer to whisper to the wrong quarterback.
Injuries and massive interceptions were the only things that forced him to play the right guy.
Very good game planning and play calling but this means nothing if ego keeps him from putting the best eleven on the field.

Good luck.
