14 year old Lab is a rare breed. In laws have a 11 year old male yellow Lab and he's all but done, Think he'll be put down in the next couple of weeks.
He was pretty much a neighborhood dog, each morning he'd make the rounds. One of our neighbors preferred to leave her door open instead of running AC and ol Jakey would saunter in, grab a shoe or whatever and leave..

After Birdie's surgery, we took her in every other day for K-laser treatment, which basically helps the wound heal faster. I was pretty skeptical but there is no denying that her recovery has been remarkable. I think she's feeling better now than she has is quite a while. In any event, we seem to be closing in on Star Trek kinda stuff where they wave a magic wand over you and bam, you're healed.

What's K-Laser? We go back 2/16 for suture removal. I'll ask about it.

It's like some sort of ultrasound dealio that is supposed to stimulate the cells in a way that promotes faster healing. Like I said, my initial reaction was that it was basically essential oils and aroma therapy voodoo, but it certainly didn't hurt. Plenty of info about it one the world wide webernet.

We had a basset hound who like to climb into our jet tub and lick the jets for some odd reason only dogs would understand. Once, while climbing out of the tub, she threw out a disk in her back that basically crippled her and left her in so much pain she threw up and couldn't move. We took her to a specialist who said she needed a spinal fusion and that if not she had to be put down. Basically it was "give us $4,000 cash up front for her surgery or say good by to your pup". Then they wanted us to sign her up for water therapy in a whirlpool for 8 weeks for another couple thousand dollars. I got mad, told them they were a bunch of pirates and that they could go ahead and put down the dog and do whatever they wanted with the body and left with my screaming and crying family in tow.

Nope. Not really. The dog had the operation and lived a pretty healthy and happy life and died of old age at 13.

So, It's been 6 weeks since Cowboy had his TPLO surgery on his right leg. Below are the X-Rays we received from that surgery showing the plate. He's done extremely well.

Took the Butthead in yesterday for the left leg and he just arrived home. 2 weeks to go to get sutures out and then 8 weeks to heal all.

Update on the pup @NVGator ?
He's doing great. He's probably about at 90% now. He's running and playing. He'll jump in the back of my Jeep again, which he stopped doing before the surgery. We take him to Doggie Daycare again so he can play with all his buddies. They report he's doing fantastic as if nothing ever happend.

Thanks for asking. :highfive:
