Cause not disclosed. Never realized his dream of making it to the Hall. Age 83. In Nevada.

"Has died" evidently wasn't strong enough, so it's become DEAD. BTW, he's still DEAD.

Damn, I know all my childhood heroes are going to die. I loved Pete Rose.
I just watched the Netflix show "Charlie Hustle".
Enjoyed it very much. Got a little cringy near the end though.

As I just mentioned in chat.
I loved baseball when I was a kid. Went to my first baseball game at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati in 1972. "Big Red Machine".

Everyone should play every game at every level like Pete did.
RIP GOAT

Thread title has AIDS.

Rest peacefully Pete.

I don't believe I've ever seen you use "peacefully" before. It's usually, well, there won't be any more birthdays for this guy.

One of my all time favorite players. It's a damn criminal shame he wasn't in the HOF.
Fuch Manfred, Giamatti, the whole band of hypocrites. The guy who wrote "Me and the Spitter" sits in the Hall and the all-time hit king reduced to begging and signing "I'm sorry I bet on baseball". Loved Pete.

He always played hard and I admire the toughness. Pete wasn't a pussy, I'll give him that.
He was an ******* though and a poor man's version of Tony Gwynn IMO. Still a well respected
player that is worthy of a HOF nod. I would've enjoyed seeing him beat the hell out of that worm jim gray.

Rose even corked his bats, at least in his later years.

I grew up not too far from Cincy and was a Reds fan. Those Big Red Machine teams were built on hitting and did just that. And just enough pitching to bring 2 WS rings. Rose was a great player just not such a great person.

No one doubts Rose was a great player, even with the bat corking when he was trying to break the hits record.

He's controversial because he was a drunken gambling addict, blatantly broke the rules that he KNEW resulted in a lifetime ban, then lied about it for decades. No remorse of any kind. If he hadn't been such an arrogant, reckless fool, he would have stayed in baseball as a manager after his playing days and been in the Hall of Fame right around 1991.

Now that he's gone, I think they should put him in the Hall.
