My 2500HD with the 8.1/ allison is lucky to hit 12 mpg. Being on 35s and 7300 pounds doesn't help. 496 cubes get hungry.

Had a 2000 excursion v10 4wd. 12 was best mpg, if I tied a feather to my hitch, it dropped to 8mpg ;-)

Know the feeling, My GN flatbed weighs 6K empty, throw a 14K F350 on (had 2 pallets of sod on it) and, well....... But once up to speed it held OD with no issues.

Wife's Cousin used to have a 5.4 excursion, What a weak POS that was. Low mpg too.

Off the line it was a pig. Punch it going over 60mph, it was a totally different story.

I got rid of a 5.3 Chevy for a 6.2 GMC and my mpg went from 13 to 19!!!

The DOD is seamless and really does help.

No. Mine was a 2001. When I got rid of it, she had over 160K miles and still ran flawlessly.

ok. like 06 for the DOD, right?

My brother has one, it's a strong truck. And he gets like 20mpg if he's flat and not thrashing it.

AFM (DOD) started in about 07 on the new style trucks. When it works it's OK but when it goes well you're going to spend some cash on it. There's many AFM delete kits out there which change the cam and lifters, Then you'll have to get AFM deleted from the ECM by a tune. Biggest thing is to keep up maintenance on them and use the viscosity oil it calls for .

Traded my 15 F-250 with 188k miles for this 17 with 26k this week. Gotta say I love the ride of the aluminum frame and this thing is super quiet. 850E412C-87CF-458E-9025-5D8903E2CE7D.jpeg
