Sometimes we see guys that were part of a great tandem and just assume they’ll be great on their own, especially in a feature year. But it just doesn’t always work out. Mit sure whether it’s the OL, his reads, or something else, but this is clearly not working.

May be time to play younger guys like Pierce.

You guys really think Perine is the problem?

Not Dumbass Mullins calling options on 1st and 2nd like clockwork, allowing all 8 to come without fear of playing pass? Having 5 OL and a (essentially) a WR/TE hybrid blocking 8 defenders? Have you even fvkking noticed the back getting hit in the backfield every fvkking play?

And letting one dude come unblocked every play BY DESIGN (and expecting the QB to account for him in a fraction of a second).

And you think the problem is Perine? REALLY?

I don't think Perine is all SEC by any means, but he is far from the problem.

We have a pretty deep receiver corps, with an OL that is much better at passblocking than option blocking (which is very athletically difficult and complex, long pulls and reach blocks) and our fvkking moron HC thinks that means you run the ball on 1st and 2nd and CONTINUALLY put us in third and long.

And yes, a screen pass counts as a run. To the defense, it is just a toss sweep.

Yes the O-line isn't getting much of a push, but he's not running as hard as last year. Pierce needs to start getting the bulk of the carries. Maybe that will light a fire in Perine.

He was at his best last year running between the guards. He will never be an outside guy and that's what we are calling.

This is all on the playcalling.

I agree that the playcalling and game management has been the biggest problem with this offense. That said, Pierce is outplaying and out-hustling Perine. We need a RB who can shed some tackles and push a pile. Perine isn't doing it.

It's like Perine forgot how to run. He just jukes and jives laterally or steps into the line and cowers down. If he gets out into space he cannot shed a tackle, which means he sucks as our lead rusher. He used to be better than that. Pierce is north-south without all the bullsh@t dancing he has a better chance of getting a few yards. The fact that Mullen can't see it like everybody else can is anybody's guess. Same logic as keeping Trask on the bench for 3 years behind Felippe. Best wishes to him that injury didn't look good.

I stated in the box that I was extremely surprise Perine was the only ball carrier in the entire first half. Has to be OL. But then again... back up QB aint bad

SECN talking head right now (it is Arky and CSU)

I was impressed with (new QB)....
But the running game we talked about. What does the vertical game do? it allows you to not necessarily load the box all the time (sic) and now you can open the ground game.

It's not real hard. Make them fear the pass. Doesn't have to be long passes but it can't be nothing but sideways shyt. Make them respect the pass and your damn running game will be so much easier.

Can't be a fvkking scared ass play caller.

How hard is that? You don't want them KNOWING whether you are going to throw or pass before most plays.

Yup. If there are 8 in the box, go elsewhere, then there won’t be 8 in the box. Play the numbers. Our TE or WR size and get destroyed in blocking. The back is getting hit before the line. They need to have a fast decisive first step. No dancing. Slants, downfield passing, 2 backs, 6 OL. Mix it up more. Teams have the roadmap so we need to change the destination.
Was Ky just confused with Trask and changed scheme or was he recognizing and throwing faster before the D converged? The qb will rarely have a lot of time with our OL until we make them back off due to play calling. Throw every play if need be.

I didn't see him calling audibles. My guess is Cousin Eddie Moron knows he can't play option with Trash and went to the pass. That could be a good thing.

Im just wondering why our 6 million dollar man didn't it figure out by the third series versus scUM.

Then again, he ran the option for 25 straight games before he finally let Chris Leak pass vs OSU. I've learned to never underestimate the bullheadedness of a moron.

Kintucky had a garbage secondary BEFORE they lost their first 2 safeties and put true freshmen on the field. SOS would have scored 60 or 80 versus that. We just keep "trying to establish the running game" (and putting ourselves in 3rd and long every damn series) for the first three and a half quarters of every damn game.

Agreed. Maybe combo of Davis/Pierce would be upgrade. Couldn't be worse right now. Perine looks slow and can't shed tackler. If he reads block correctly or can break one tackle there were big plays to be had tonight. Unfortunately he couldn't.
