So. Im not sure why we aren't talking about John Gruden. The dude is a winner and players love him. He hasn't been living it up since he 'resigned' in 2021...no, he has been grinding away keeping his tool sharp in his own facility. He is available now and he has made it known that he would love to get at it at the college level. With the way the college game has drastically shifted towards being more like the NFL in the last few years he really is a very good candidate for the job we have for him. He has something to prove and so does Florida.

Because, at that first team meeting, a former coach can explain someone other than his wife grinding on him publicly while groping someone other than his wife publicly. He can explain a motorcycle wreck with a coed on the back. He can explain his phone records full of escort services...

I'm not saying that one cannot overcome explaining to the fellas what he meant by "big lipped," I'm just saying it's a little more problematic, on many levels.

I'm starting to consider either @AlexDaGator 's idea of Jimbo Fisher or @Concrete Helmet 's idea of Burt as possible replacements. Those are our two most intelligent members, we should listen to them.
:lmao2:

Not MY pick, my guess as to what’s on Stricklin’s shopping list.

Jimbo, Rhett Lashley, the other Stoops, Malzahn, Drinkwitz, Petrino, etc.

David? Shoot, I hear we could get his semi-retarded half brother Mickey for a fraction of the cost.

Funny, but if you give Mick all the wins that the NCAA took away for prior BS at Bama, Mickey put up a 26-23 record. David on the other hand complied a 19-52 record as a NFL head coach. I believe UF would be shopping in the David Shula aisle. Could not afford the Mickster.

Do you sometimes wonder what Stoops would do with a QB like Merrz (too say nothing of Lagway!), RBns like Johnsonn, Baugh, etc., and our co.plkement of WRs?
I am not saying .ark Stoops is our answer; I am saying that it would be nice to see a Gator team that wasn't an embarrassment.
Stoops with Mertz would look like Stoops with every QB he has ever had. Efficient. Pop 1-2 deep passes. Win or lose, 17-14. Make a bowl and savor that upset over team X. But never contend for a championship. He’s just right for where he is and has helped them become respectable.

If you dream of Kirk Firenze, he’s your guy. If you’re pining for the Dickey era, he’s your guy. He avoids losing.

It seems a little peculiar to me: if Lane comes to UF he will have better talent and his teams will win more; if Golesh comes to UF he will have more talent and win more; but if Stoops comes to UF, nothing will change.??!?
Actually, I don't want Stoops. Here's what I do want:
1) Accountability. When a player throws a shoe and loses a game or converts a possible field goal into a certain TD with a silly shove of a QB, I want the team and the fans not to see the player humiliated, but to see him sit for a few plays while he receives serious counseling.
2) I want to see a team that knows its assignments and carries them out without routinely with minimal penalties.
3) I want to see a team with a physical style of play, especially at the LoS and most especially on the DL.
4) I want to see a team that doesn't back down and doesn't quit.
A high powered offense is nice and fun to watch, but it just isn't as important in my value system as other things. I understand that it is important to you and durty and donk, just less so to me.
