I’m not interested, I was just amazed with the mileage.
that Audi/VW 4-cylinder 2.0 / 1.8 block (they actually bought the original design from Mercedes) is pretty solid engine. the transmissions are not so hot though.

Ox are you more interested in a project to work on or something you can drive sooner than later?

More the latter than the former, but I'd jump on a project at the right price.

I’d it’s less than a tankful away from Port St. Lucie.

You disliking the car is making me want to take a closer look.

Probably a good thing we’re not related. I’d have to slap you upside the head.

78 has considerably deeper pockets, so it's certainly easy for him to say "just buy this" or "buy that" or "have a Porsche dealer look at this" or "just fly up to North Carolina (First Class of course) and look at that Boxster in the cornfield, take an enormous financial risk buying it, and then blow $1000+ shipping it back to Florida" and so on.

You're pretty good at working on stuff so trust your comfort level and familiarity with whatever you decide on.....Miata might be something you could drive while scouting a salvage yard powerplant from a different car, 4cyl turbo, 6cyl or even a V8......I was at a car meet once and saw someone that swapped a LS motor from a Vette into one....:eek2:

You could drive the car while finding/building at the same time.

Yeah, V-8 swap Miata's are known as "Monster" Miata's, and they have kits for those. For years, the most popular powerplant was the 5.0 Mustang motor, but in more recent times they use the LS1 out of the Vette like you said.

Another option is supercharger and turbocharger kits.
