Yeah, but even when he played, he wasn’t anything like he is in the NFL.

I dunno man, I gotta disagree here.

Dude never had a healthy season at Florida. Multiple shoulder injuries and a broken arm.

He was really good when he played, everybody could see the talent, but with all the injuries, he never got the live game reps he needed to improve.

He was drafted by the Saints and injured his shoulder again. Gator fans were like "yeah, that's him, talented but made of glass".

Thank God he's been relatively healthy since then.

He averaged about the same amount of tackles per game as Pyburn. And he was a linebacker.

He has been a tackling machine in the NFL.
We aren't talking about stats, man. We're talking about football. Doing the right thing. When you're good at what you do teams don't run or throw at you.

Go back and look at his PFF grades. That's what matters.

But man it seems like he was hurt every freaking year.

We've had a few good run stopper middle linebackers over the last decade. They were generally limited though, not fast enough side to side or not capable in pass coverage. Ventrell and Morrison in particular. And some good side to side guys that weren't capable between the tackles especially if they had to take on a pulling guard.

When Anzaloni was healthy he was always that dude on the field who looked like the best player on the field. He's always been that guy.

Anzalone was a 5* menace in high school. I’m not disputing his talent. I just don’t think his production was great at UF. That’s it.

And although stats are similar, I don’t think Pyburn is on Anzalone’s level.

Yeah, thus my use of the word "reminds"...

He averaged about the same amount of tackles per game as Pyburn. And he was a linebacker.

He has been a tackling machine in the NFL.

This is how I remember him:

Former Florida Gators Football: Alex Anzalone

Linebacker Alex Anzalone did not put up the most eye-popping of collegiate numbers, appearing in just 33 games in four years for the Florida Gators, totaling 75 tackles and three sacks from 2013-16.

Those stats are rather pedestrian, but when he was on the field, Anzalone was visibly dominant. He became a starter during the 2015 season and was off to a solid start before suffering a shoulder injury in the second game that ended his season. His final year in 2016 was dominant, though. He had 53 tackles and three sacks in eight games, anchoring a defense that, when healthy, was one of the best in the country. Injury trouble struck again late in the season though, and Anzalone missed the final four games of the season.

He had 75 career tackles in 4 years. Sounds pretty meh. Buuuuuut.....

He only played 2 games in 2015, and 53 of those tackles came in the first 8 games of 2016 (his last year) before he got injured again. If my math is correct (no guarantees), he had more tackles per game in those 8 games in 2016 than he's been averaging in the NFL.

I love ya J, but I gotta disagree with you on this. When the guy was on the field, he was good. There's a reason the Saints drafted him in the third round, despite his terrible injury history (NFL linebackers with bad shoulders don't last long).

He had a chronic shoulder problem that needed surgery to fix. Not sure when he had it done but it's obviously made a difference. Shotani will probably be getting the same surgery.

Let’s not forget we have Spikes on staff. I could totally see a full dry hump or eye gouging of ETN at some point in this game.

He averaged about the same amount of tackles per game as Pyburn. And he was a linebacker.
He also lined up behind a guy named Caleb Brantley who cleaned up a lot of running plays before they ever got past the LOS....oh then this other guy named Jarrad Davis lined up next to him and was like white on rice for anything that did get past the LOS...

We haven't had anyone at LBer since AA and Jarrad Davis within the same ballpark talentwise since they left...not even in the same zip code.
