A little something to spice up the holiday sports doldrums.

Setting aside the team achievement disparity, try and determine which of these remarkable three Gator quarterback seasons — two of which resulted in Heisman trophies — was the most impressive from an individual perspective.

I left out Spurrier’s 1966 because, well, his Heisman numbers pale in comparison and it was a far different era. He always comes out last in these comparisons. It’s just not fair to him.

Rex’s 2001? It was outstanding, Heisman worthy, but it doesn’t rate with these three IMO.

One of the huge thing is Wuerffel got most sof his stats in first half. More often than not the second half was just running plays to kill the clock.

Plus Wuerffel's stats dont include post season.

Not that Trash is less of a QB because Dorky Dan tried to keep the games close w options and keepers of course.

Also, Wuerffel almost never threw sideways. The stats may look the same (yds/att) but there is a huge difference if the dedense just makes their tackles. You end up with alot of zero yardages plays then that one or two big yards. Much like Demps as a running back. zero yards nine times then 80 once isnt as effective as 5, 7, 0, 9, 12, 4, 5, 7 most plays, despite Demps average not looking terrible.

Agreed... another thing with Trask vs the other two: how many NFL lineman (let alone first round pick OL linemen) did Trask have in front of him this year?

Probably 4.

IIRC Wuerffel had one, Mo Collins. Maybe another? Memory is poor.

Pretty sure Tebow had 4.

Most will vote for Tim due to the bonus of running so much.....he is the QB type Mullen wants and the system fits him perfectly. What Trask did was nothing short of incredible though. He did what he did with a horrid Oline and no run game. Between the three he has the best QB vision and mental capacity. Running this offense I would take a Tebow type as it opens up so many possibilities, but if I needed a pocket QB I'm pretty sure I would take Trask over Danny as sacreligous as that will seem to many here.

Don't forget Trask's pooch punt.

Not exactly Steve Spurrier's field goal, but it showed some versatility.

Hard to believe Danny only had a 57% competition his Heisman year. Seems like it would’ve been higher, but Spurrier did push the ball down the field more than what Urban did.

43 TDs and 5 Ints for Trask to Danny's 39 and 13. In one less game. Incredible.

Agree. Though one has to wonder what Wuerffel’s stats may have looked like if his coach had let him play more in the second halves instead of running out the clock. You know, like if said coach had had that “killer instinct” and cared about his QB’s Heisman candidacy.

that was the good thing about being up 42 to 7 at halftime versus conservative SEC offenses that probably couldn't score 42 points in a month vs us.
