About time - that was crazy it could overrule the ejection but not the penalty last season.

Also this

" Much like the NFL, there is now a low hit policy in place for quarterbacks. Roughing the passer now "prohibits the defense from making forcible contact at the knee or below to an opponent who is in a passing posture." Defenders can still wrap-up below the knees, but they must not lead with the shoulder, helmet or forearm into the quarterback's lower leg. Much like targeting, this will be interpreted by officials, so there's a good chance we'll see a couple iffy low-hit roughing the passer calls this season if a player is being blocked toward the ground and attempts to tackle the quarterback."

Good change. It'll be interesting to see how that new roughing the passer rule plays out through the season.

Targeting reversal was so obvious and I'm glad it can be changed. I don't like the lower leg rule. Defenders often go after whatever they can get and when you are being blocked sometimes it is inevitable and that is too iffy. They are building this game around offense.

15 yards? I'm sure Booby Bowden would scoff at that. They should toss them at least and maybe another game. Think that Vole that did the lower body whip onto Jeff's ankle last year would be concerned about 15 yards? Of course not.

That's a move that trash defensive coaches teach.

I'm talking about reviewing the 15 yard penalty for targeting.

Yeah, I know. But they added the part about hitting BELOW the knee, which still won't cure the problem IMO.

not lead with the shoulder, helmet or forearm into the quarterback's lower leg.

Isn't a normal ankle tackle leading with your forearm?

They are talking about a forearm shiver to the lower leg (or head) not a normal wrapup style tackle.

Would those Bama ones on Driskel be illegal now ?

There are obvious times where there was malicious intent. But the line differentiating malicious intent and good football can be blurry. I like the targeting rule, but I didn't think it should be expanded.

What the hell law, I got a weak stomach for those kind of pics you ass.

That is dirty as hell dropping down like that on the ankle while tackling but it probably wouldn't be covered by the new rule.

Lord knows I'm no fan of Drizzy but that was a punk ass move by that POS vole.

I don't remember that. I thought they knocked him out in two or three plays by a normal tackle when he scrambled.

Good move...they were talking about correcting that rule during the season last year...not a shock.

Never made any sense that they could call a penalty and eject a guy for targeting, but then review the play, see it wasn't targeting, and simply not eject the guy but the penalty still stands. I mean seriously….WTF!??
