At this point, no one requires you to wear a tie, and certainly not a pocket square. If you’re going to do so, please at least do them correctly, including collar stays.

I can see it now. We go from Muschimp, to Butters, to Mullet, to Hamhock.

I didn’t like the hire. At the time, it was disappointing that we didn’t get Frost or Kelly, but after year 2, I felt better about Mullen being “the guy”. Obviously the A&M loss was bad, especially the way it happened, and his postgame excuse-athon but we seemed to buckle down and throttled UGay. I was on the bandwagon until LSU, then all hell broke loose with his ridiculous behavior and defensiveness of Marco, Grantham, etc.

I’m now 100% convinced that we saw the best version of Mullen in that first half against UGay, and he will never top that moment at UF.

I’m fine it he leaves on his own right now, or if we run him out on a rail.

He should be brought in immediately in some capacity. Recruiting and coaching would see a major uptick. I'm shocked I beat Law to this post.

Pocket square? I thought it was an emergency inhaler. His tie knot looks like the rebellious knots I tied back in the day. "Fine, I'll wear your silly headache maker, but Windsor has a short bus cousin ..."

Still the absolute worst "lying face" on the planet. I have no doubt it contributes to his recruiting difficulties. Just imagine questions like, "Am I going to sit for 3 years before I play?", or "Is it true you're looking at another RB in this class?", then picture this gif.

If everything in that article is correct...I can't see Ivy Fuchs putting up with Mullen tarnishing the UF squeaky clean image. We are harder on Football than any other major program that I can think of?

We can do better for $6+Million/Yr Florida Weather and no State Income Tax.

He’s not done beating off to the idea. Think it might be a while.

I’ll jump on the bandwagon and say we need to find a spot for him in the program somewhere.

Not so fast, my ambulance-chasing, equine friend. UConn hoops fired Kevin Ollie with cause and declared his buyout voided by his recruiting violations. If I recall, his recruiting violations were worse than what CDM was found to have committed. Add to that Ollie was a loved player for them. He is suing for his buyout and I think it is still working its way through the court system. Keep in mind UConn's athletic department doesn't have a fraction of the money UF does.

And I get it, who GAF about UConn hoops on this board? Nobody. But I think the example for us re CDM is instructive. While his recruiting shenanigans may put us in a position to fire him with cause and void his buyout, you know he'll sue immediately. So would we actually try to do it? If so, would we settle (like we did with Butters, right?)? If we try to void his buyout, would that make our job less attractive to potential coaching hotshots?

It's not as cut and dried as Law Donk's answer. I'd be willing to bet if he's whacked, CDM still receives a hefty chunk of change to go away and fill the sh!tter elsewhere.

Wow. The bloom is off the Mullen rose pretty quickly.

I'm disappointed in the way he's handled press conferences and it concerns me that his public approach is reflective of his true thinking and how he handles the team. I hoped that he would get rid of Grantham, but alas - no. I'm really frustrated that our defense is so undisciplined - especially as it's reflected in the poor tackling, missed assignments, and especially the egocentric, tone-deaf, trash-talking done by our dbs when we are losing and they've had the worst season of UF dbs in years and years. Of course I'm dissatisfied with recruiting results. There may be other areas that I would complain about, but they aren't springing to mind at the moment.

That said, he's improved and stabilized the program significantly. I think there is a lot that has improved about Gator Football during Mullen's tenure and, while I expect a decline next year, especially in the passing game, I'm not ready to pitch a fit just yet.

Gee if he really wanted out he could just quit. Surely all that money he earned would be enough to say retire or at least take some years off. Now I don't like how he handled our bowl game, and his communication skills need improvement. Perhaps his real boss will insist on some improvements. I also blame the dc for our total lack on defense, he recruited the players, supervises the assistants and unless he has some great reason for this failure (I can't imagine what) he needed to be held responsible. A decrease in his pay and one year to have large improvements would be a minimum for me. I might be friends with someone but this is business, perform or be held accountable.

Am I understanding correctly that one of the possibilities is that Mullen wants to fire Grantham but he is being vetoed by UAA? If this is true, separate his ridiculous pressers and half-arsing the bowl game, I side with Mullen on this issue.

Why would he want to stay here if he can't fire someone who reports directly to him?

63, I think I read. I thought he was 60 in 2006 or so. Tough living growing up in West Virginia.

Pretty sure he knew this was coming. important people have wanted Pruitt back all along.

the fact that he has not searched for another job is instructive though. I think he may go to WVU or UK but I doubt he goes too far from home and his sick old man.

Settlements are a fact of life. but the willfulness of this violation is quite helpful for us.

The question was can we fire him for calls in the answer is yes.

can he try to find a sympathetic judge? anyone can.
