It looks like the most likely result is one 7-1 team (either Texas or ATM, not that a team can be turned around in only one year because of the NIL and previous coach and stuff) and like 4-6 teams that are 6-2 in conference. I guess some polls will decide who else gets into the SECC, because head to head won't work.

This is chaos I can enjoy. Hopefully Ugly makes it, get's beat and gets left out of the playoffs with three losses. The only thing left to enjoy in this year is a 3 loss Ugly sitting at home.

I read on the innertubez that Bammer has the benefit of having beaten UGly in regards to the SECCG.

I was pretty happy when the Voles were up 10-0 last night. It was all looking good until Tennessee remembered they’re Tennessee.

I said it before and I'll say it again....there will be 3 loss SEC teams that make the playoffs....maybe not this year but it will happen and there will be years when the SEC champ has 2-3 losses too.

Here's a scenario to ponder...not the most likely but certainly possible.
Bama still has to play OU in Norman then rivalry game with the Barn. Could be 9-3
Ole Miss has to come to the Swamp then rivalry game. Again could be 9-3
UGA still has to play a tough GT in a rivalry game. Could be 9-3
Texas still has TAMU. UT could be 10-2 and or TAMU 9-3
Tennessee still has Vandy. Likely 9-3.

I think Texas has gotten lucky with the schedule this year but I can see a scenario where they lose to TAMU and then have to play a 3 loss team like Bama or UGA and LOSE leaving the SEC with 4-5 3 loss teams....Again this may not happen this year or every year but I think with the expanded conference we have now it will be more of the rule than the exception.

Maybe some day way in the future, but not this year. I mean let’s face it, you see the impossible well before it ever happens. That’s what makes you so damn special.

I actually think this is more likely to happen than not. Expanded conferences, transfer portal and NIL will bring parity into CFB like you've never seen.

The best part is that what we've been trying to get away from the most....RANKINGS...will still determine the champion at the end of the year due to a glut of 2-3 loss teams arguing about getting into the playoffs...watch.

Kids who were born when we won our last SEC championship will be eligible for their driver’s license in a few weeks.

Having teams with 2 or 3 losses advance at the end of the season is fine when the schedules are full of good matchups every week. This has been an exciting season. FBS or Division 1 or whatever its called needs to whittle itself down to just a few conferences of decent teams and stop putting Middle Tennessee State and Mercer and Troy on the schedule.....ever. Way too many teams, especially in the ACC etc, have basically a "one game season" where they coast along every week against terrible competition.

History may show that 2020 Covid season where the SEC played league games only was the impetus for the sea change in CFB.

This X1000. If teams that are trapped in conferences where they know they are going to already have 6 or 7 soft games it should be a wake up call for them to schedule aggressively out of conference throughout the season....not just one big season opening game...The Big 10 for all of it's faults did somewhat address this by bringing in traditional powers like Oregon and USC although I would love to see some of them add annual games with ND like Michigan used to do.....Anyone thinking SEC will have undeated teams rolling into the playoffs every year needs to put the pipe down.

We ain't in it, I don't give a fcuk (except for rooting against Georgia and Tennessee).

That said...

I don't think the Selection Committee will hold a Conference Championship Game loss against a team that faced an elite opponent to the benefit of a team that didn't have to play in that game.
