And he DISLIKED that post. Bastard.
They used past experiences to write the bill of rights to guarantee that free men would always have certain freedoms and a way to preserve them. When the second amendment was written we were far removed from the Revolutionary war, so NO, it wasn't to fight the Brits but, and it has been well documented, perhaps have to take arms against our own govt if they over stepped their bounds which is an infinite possibility and anyone that believes in democracy and freedom should understand that. You used this event to bash the NRA as if to suggest that they are at fault, which is to suggest that I am at fault as a member. You admitted you had no answers but were more that willing to lay blame with R's and the NRA and gunowners and that clearly suggest you are incapable of participating in an intelligent way. So I suggest the STFU on the subject until you can.
The reason I took an extreme example of bearing arms is that there has to be a limit set in place that takes the safety of the masses into account. Where is that line drawn where some types of weapons are deemed illegal. Many lobbyists do not want any infringement on the type of weapon you own. Hence the atom bomb and tank reference. The hard questions are about automatic assault weapons, the ones that do the most damage in a short period of time. What is their purpose? I know, I know I am opening up a HUGE can of worms. I grew up on Plantation but now live in Chicago. Never understood the fascination some have with guns. But respect the Constitution and the right to bear arms. Our lawmakers need to have serious discussions on what that means and make some tough decisions if necessary. Americans need to be able to protect themselves. But do we really need automatic weapons that can fire X number of rounds per minute? As I said in one of my first posts, way too complicated to answer on a sports message board. But right now, our lawmakers are doing nothing and that is what I have an issue with. Be safe my Gator brethren. Even the ones who call me names and do not agree with me. We are all Americans and Gators and you would think we could figure out how to stop this senseless violence. No easy answer for sure. Peace out.
And fk your thumbs down rating. Automatic assault weapons are illegal. Again, speak intelligently our STFU!!!!
LOL...I hit the wrong button! But you are right, I am a bastard, not a retard.
No, you're ****ing retarded.
I have yet to meet someone from another country who laughs at us. They are fascinated by us. They may not understand but they all want to go shoot guns when here and realize they have never had the right to choose like we have. Was with 3 brits last week for work. They desperately wanted to go shoot guns since they can only own the equivalent of a musket in their words. Tragedies happen. Gun free zones are the most dangerous places. I’m all for common sense regulation but I’ve yet to see it. Dems will cry about how much they want to save children yet are owned by planned parenthood. Celebrities will Call for a ban before going out with security to film their new movie about how cool guns are. The problem is that so far all “common sense” regulation involves a ban. You try to do stricter background checks and the dems cry about profiling. I’ve never scene so many willing to give up their rights before. Other countries would kill to at least have a choice.
How exactly did this “loophole” have a direct bearing on this shooting? Would closing this “loophole” have prevented this event today?
I'll take no for a thousand here Durt.
I was making fun of him.
This is why posters are telling you to stop. If you read George Mason’s writings you’ll find out he and the other drafters of the Constitution used the word “militia” differently. They very clearly differentiated between a standing army and a militia.
You should know that fully automatic weapons aren’t available for purchase without a lengthy, stringent & expensive process. You can’t just go to a gun store or an online site & buy them. Again, how exactly would that have stopped today’s murders? I would bet that there’s a 99.99% chance that the weapon used today wasn’t fully automatic. So how would “reasonable controls” have stopped today’s shooting? I may be wrong, but I can’t think of ANY mass shootings, not by terrorists, done with full auto weapons since the mobsters back in the early part of the last century. I get your anger & desire to strike back, I really do. I feel angered by the madness as well. But you’re looking in the wrong direction to actually DO something about it. I’d suggest you look at BOTH political parties, not just the Repubs. As if they really don’t care about something like this, please. I personally think the judicial softening of law enforcement & trend towards a lack of accountability when it comes to making people who commit crimes actually pay a severe price bears a large part of the blame for things like this.
Any idea on this guy’s social leanings?
Nothing concrete yet it appears.
I don't mean to be insensitive, I realize all the facts on this have to come in. But, this was one armed person against a very large school and faculty. Just seems everywhere should be trained to expect this kind of thing to happen eventually and be proactive to stop it once it starts. The thought of shooters roaming hallways and classrooms while everyone hides or gets under desks does not seem an adequate response. M'fer should be dead.
Another day, another school shooting. It's becoming way too common. And here come all of the "thoughts and prayers" from politicians that will do jack sht about this. Latest count is 17 dead. What's clear is that what we are doing now (which is nothing) isn't working. So, maybe we try something else other than nothing? Or does it have to happen multiple times a day before people will start throwing out suggestions?
Israel does not have this problem. They train and arm their teachers. Our left-wing policos solve the problem by making sure no law-abiding people are able to defend themselves or the children in a school. Ignorance is no excuse for stupidity. With everything that's been going on how could you possibly trust government to protect you? In truth, we would be much safer if the military disbanded (we have no need of a peacetime military presence) and a voluntary citizen militia (not government controlled) was beefed up. Private citizen militias were becoming popular in the 90s until the Pervert in Chief squashed them after the Oklahoma City bombing.
Got the vinyl.
