Man vs Bee (Netflix) - was a huge Mr. Bean fan when I was a kid so wanted to see what he could do. The entire show will only take you about 2 hours to watch as they are 10 minute episodes. Basically he is a house sitter hired to watch a rich person’s house but a bee gets in and drives him crazy. He then does a bunch of ridiculous stuff to try and get rid of it.
5/10. Not the greatest but some laughs from his style of comedy.

Just finished season 2 of ‘Hacks’ (HBO Max)
Story about an aging female comedian (Jean Smart) who has her own ‘residency’ in Vegas ala Celine or Elvis.
Her act is getting stale so her agent sets her up with a young female writer from LA who’s been blacklisted because of some offensive tweets.
It has turned out to be an excellent comedy with a very well developed surrounding cast.

The Boys (2019-) <Amazon Prime>
Apparently another comic/graphic-novel based series. Premise is we have super powered people in society ('Supes') and the top few are selected into a group called 'The 7'. This top group is owned/contracted/run by a corporate entity, complete with toys, shows/movies, personal appearances, breakfast cereals, etc. Season 1 focuses on a regular guy 'Hughie' who's gf is obliterated by A-Train (one of the 7, super speed) as he is running somewhere around town. Oops, sorry. Hughie seeks to hold A-Train and Vought (the corp) accountable. In comes Billie Butcher who misrepresents himself so as to enlist Hughie in taking down the 7. Butcher is driven by the leader of the 7, Homelander (basically Superman with a god complex), having raped his wife and her subsequently disappearing (by Vought? Suicide? Murder?). Butcher brings two other team members, Mother's Milk (MM) and Frenchy. These are 'The Boys' that are going after the 7. The rest of the 7 bring some personalities, key of which is Starlight, a new addition who happens to strike up a romance with Hughie.
Ok, enough background. What do we have? Production value is there, as we have a decent palate of characters (presumably already defined by the comic series). We have a lot of blood and explosions. We have meh dialogue, and the story lines I assume are ripped from the comics as well otherwise they overpaid the writers to come up with them for the series. Actually, writing and dialogue are pretty bad. Butcher calls everyone a cnt, all the time, so that's a thing. But in one episode he keeps telling Hughie whatever they next action is will be 'piece of cake' which is a thing...for that episode then dropped. You don't really bond or feel for the characters. The one you are supposed to relate to is Hughie, but he's such a whiny btch you don't like him either. Homelander is a dick, and presents as such, even that gets old after awhile. Deep is a side character of the 7 and you have to wonder why he's even there other than to be annoying, while Black Noir is mute and doesn't bring much via mime work, not even leveraged for dry humor looks.
S1 focused on Hughie going after A-Train and Vought for the death of his gf, and the problems Butcher brings in doing so. S2 focused on if supes are born (as believed) or made (hence bringing in a new member of 7 that turns out to be a nazi racist sht). The show has gotten fan support and acclaim for being more real and grounded than all the traditional 'good guy' super hero shows and movies. It's Prime, not broadcast tv like Flash or Supergirl, so they have bad language, sex (soft porn), and a lot of blood and destruction. But more than that, it brings you superheroes that aren't white-bread wholesome and clean, they are dirty, make mistakes, and don't always get along with everyone. I suppose that's the big draw, supes that aren't great people. But, bottom line, even if you are a fan of the comics, I can't see why you'd watch this other than being a different take on superheroes. It's not trying to compete with traditional super hero shows, it's giving a unique take on them. But, on it's own, it simply isn't that good. Not with characters, stories, or anything really. And yes, I'll watch S3 but I'm sure I won't like it.

Still have to finish Lincoln Lawyer. We took a break halfway in to catch up on some other stuff.
Only a few episodes in but Black Bird on Apple TV is pretty good. Premise is a young guy (the guy from kingsman) gets busted for trafficking. Gets screwed by DA on his deal and is then offered a chance at freedom. He has to transfer prisons to try and get info from a psycho that has killed 14 but will walk unless they can find bodies. The psycho is played by the guy from the Richard Jewel movie and Ray Liotta is in at the dad trying to give him advise from the outside

It’s an older documentary that I stumbled across on Netflix. Really entertaining, especially if you grew up with baseball and watching the minor leagues. I had no idea any of this happened:

I don't know how to explain it really. It's clearly a turn your brain off show, but I find the premise of imaging the Justice League as somewhat evil entertaining. That being said in season 3 they have started to get pretty political on some things and its becoming annoying. Basically they were able to cram in BLM along with Homelander fans/supporters essentially being republicans.

I loved the first two seasons of YOU. The third season had an episode where someone wasn’t vaccinated (I won’t spoil it) so we turned it off and never watched another episode.

I was watching for wokeness or political crap in the first two seasons, and my take was that it's in there a bit but like twisting everyone's expectations on the Justice League, they kinda twisted that stuff too and didn't shove it down your throat. Like, having a gay member of the 7 is something I expected, but it wasn't the typical rah-rah girl power of Marvel, it was more of a 'oh, this exists here too, but we're mostly going to show it as it affects this character and somewhat lampoon the 'fans rejoice' aspect of it, while they used Homelander to turn it into a knife he could twist. So, it (woke) hasn't been bad, it's been present and presented a bit differently, so I'll give credit there....and purse my lips as I head into s3. Thanks for the warning.

It’s not until the end of the season that’s it’s clear how big a shot they take at Maga and how they plan to portray certain groups if you will. The BLM stuff isn’t crazy in your face and also goes after the whole “woke corporate support” as well. Some of the best stuff is the crazy things if you will. Just wait till the first part of episode 1 in season 3.

My wife was a huge Greys Anatomy fan until the COVID season. She turned it off and never went back after 15 years of watching. We were on the beach and in stores massless while they were still showing it like the movie Outbreak.
