This from Inc.

Instead, you're likely to consider only candidates with credentials from solid schools. And if you compare these grads to Ivy Leaguers, the jump in performance was just one percent.

"We found that graduates from higher-ranked universities tend to excessively focus on the instrumental tasks, often at the expense of paying insufficient attention to interpersonal relationships. In some instances, graduates from top universities tend to be less friendly, are more prone to conflict, and are less likely to identify with their team."

Each individual candidate and company is different, so there are no definitive answers, except perhaps a reminder not to be dazzled by big name schools. Think carefully about the trade-offs you're likely facing. For many positions, a worse degree is the better choice.
From reading the article, my impression is they are defining "elite" (or "ELITE") differently than you do.

I don't define elite when it comes to a public school...that's on MSM.

I've never had my education brought up once I worked in the industry...Just my major, training and my experience.

And JUCO was never discussed.

I am good at that...please enlighten me...remember AG major...Corndog (food) MS :dunno:
All right..........................and against my better judgment..............

In the first post you made in this thread you noted:
We are a Top school.
Yet where are the other ELITE public universities...maybe Wisconsin?
So clearly, you are including UF among the elite schools - well, the public ones anyway

In this post, where you were responding to Deet, you list an article that discusses degrees from elite schools are over valued and you bolded the part abut not being dazzled by big name schools. Only in the article, the degrees from elite universities the author, Jessica Stillman, is referring to are Ivy League degrees, not highly ranked public university degrees. In Ms. Stillman's mind, it appears UF is not elite.

G'ville is nice place to go to school. It's not Tallahassee...Yuck
It now has nice facilities
Great history
Variety of majors
Top shelf education

It is WOKE...most schools are but it's at the upper end like their ranking.

It's not Miami...Sorry I'm no fan.

USF/UCF Campus?...Not

Care to elaborate?
No, you've hijacked the thread enough by making your initial political comment, and even if I did clarify, perfectly, you'd run it off the rails on some side track.

That said, your use of "lucky" clearly marks you as far more socialist/marxist than you probably think, but we've already been down the path of who get's into UF and who doesn't before, so no need to rehash that.

@NOLAGATOR , you seem to hijack nearly every thread that in any way mentions academics at UF with this “penis envy” rant about the word “elite” and how anyone putting seeds in an egg carton and a dream should get in. GIVE IT A REST. Perhaps @oxrageous could use his magic and replace “elite” with “STFU”.

Whoever wrote that must have graduated from an elite institution. He/she/Marine knows how to use "worse" and not "worst." On second thought, take Marine out.

Yeah...right...You know what you can do with your socialist/Marxist comment.

I made a football comment. Ohio State, Mich, Ok, TX... is on the list...How many push to be "Elite"...The ones with great football traditions, though they offer good educations...Look who's on the "elite" top 10 list. That's what I've said since UF went down this road. I contend...you can't have it both ways...I'm talking Football...Not politics.

You know my feelings on "Land Grant". Florida is a huge state...it can keep their standards and never miss a step academically by increasing enrolment.

I accept your reasoning for "elite" status...but you just get ugly and snarky because I disagree. Tulane went down this road...the scUm did not....and they're both private.

AGAIN...What's your objective?...Some claim both...If that is true why is USC usually better than...The "Elite" public CA schools?

So @Gator By Marriage...maybe you missed my point. I like UF Football and I am jazzed again. I like G'ville...UF is one of the nicest campuses I've been on...but "elite status" in education...why?...because look who/how/why they rank the way they do.

And @Detroitgator...I remember this same MSM said the US would look like Russia against Ukraine in Desert Storm 1...Same educators, same media. That's what I think of ranking based on ideology.

Evaluate the school after their students spent 5-10yrs in the the real world. So still on topic...but yea...
