By Friday morning, that tweet was deleted, and it appears cooler heads have prevailed with Mazzccua planning to remain with the Gators — at least for now — according to multiple reports.
The NCAA last season created transfer portal windows; one opens at the end of the regular season with the other open May 1 after most teams have concluded spring practice. By announcing his intent to transfer on March 23, Mazzccua would have been sticking himself in limbo.
Whether he will ultimately decide to leave the program in May remains to be seen.
If Mazzccua was to seek a new destination, he would likely have to sit out a year, per NCAA rules, unless receiving a waiver from the organization.
