I'm not a pickup truck guy, I don't haul hay on a daily basis and I don't need to overcompensate for a small penis. But I do agree there are times that a pickup would come in handy. I'm also not an Eco-warrior. I enjoy burning fossil fuel and as much of it as I can. God didn't put those dinosaurs in the ground for nothing.
But I do like Tesla's new cyber truck.

It's an El Camino crossed with a Pontiac Aztec gestated in amniotic fluid laced with growth hormones. And like a red-head, somehow against all odds, is beautiful. And like a Russian grandmother it's tough. The skin is bullet proof for when you get lost in Pine Hills and the windows---- well they need a little more testing.
    Range: 500+ miles
    0-60 mph acceleration: 2.9 seconds
Towing capacity: More than 14,000 lbs
    Payload: Up to 3,500 lbs
And it's priced starting at $40k

Think I'd like to test drive one at the dealership.... oh wait.

Those aren't the specs for the 40k version.
That one comes in around 70k

Aren't you in Crime Hills? You need the bullet proof feature.

As much as I didnt want to love it.... I love it. Reminds me of a F-117 stealth Nighthawk.

The 500+ mile version is the triple motor 70k and wont be out for a few more years. Right now, it's a single rear motor with a 250 mile range for the 40k or a dual motor AWD 300 mile range for 50k.

              I don't care for it....at all.

I like the styling of the Model S...but could never come to care for the others.

I think they missed an opportunity here. Americans love trucks. I am not saying they would need to mimic existing trucks exactly, but something looking more like a current truck would gain a lot more traction....of course maybe they just can't make the aerodynamics work without doing something radical like this design

If I want to visit my boys in Gainesville...
                  • I can't get there on a single charge, in EITHER version of the truck.
                  • 334 miles door to door drive.
                  • I know there is a good charging station at the Busy Bee in Live Oak... 268 miles from my front door.
                  • Can't even make it to the Busy Bee in the cheap one, would probably have to stop in Tallacrapee. Unacceptable!
                  • Meanwhile, my 6.2 Liter Raptor with 36 gallon tank will carry me 420 miles without refueling... I can make it into Orlando on a single tank of gas, stop and refuel in 10 minutes, and drive all the way to Key West without refueling again.
                  Translation: fuk no!

Oh, I hear ya and dont disagree with any of that. A long drive will have to be "managed". On the surface, I would find that annoying.

It's not even remotely a real consideration for me, I just like the concept of that truck. I couldnt imagine pulling into the rock yard and asking the front loader to dump 2 yards of pine bark into the back of it.

In the most southern confused drawl you can imagine: "Ya won me to put this here pine bark into that thing?!!"

You would think that with a truck, they could fit way more battery, thus battery life in those things, just because of basic design...A truck should be able to run circles around the cars.

The truck is hideous! It ONLY resembles an F117 if you buy his 4wheeler and have it loaded in the back

The truck is not functional...if you want something out of the back, you have to open the vault AND climb in.

The truck is not street legal...it has no side mirrors or turn signals.

                      The interior is spartan.

                      The truck is ugly.

And that heft will absolutely NEGATIVELY affect range.

However, for price point, ground clearance and 0-60 or 1/4 mile times, it is VERY impressive.

Yeah, I'm worried about those things with a TRUCK! ;)

I'm not knocking it, we'll get there eventually with electric, but in the meantime, i'll stick with my 6.2L V-8, or, gasp, I'll "vag out" and go with the 3.5L twin turbo Ecoboost that has more HP, more torque... than my V-8! ;) ... but I would like the 3.5L TT gas mileage in my old Raptor! It's easily a 5 mpg difference from mine.

I have that 3.5L TT. After listening to my best friend’s non stop smack about it for the last 8 months, I raced him in his Raptor to 100. I killed him.

So I have ran it in eco mode, sport mode, normal mode, manual mode.... no matter how hard or how easy I drive it.... it always averages exactly 22mpg for that tank.

Pickup guys aren't looking for a golf cart. Electric vehicles are the opposite of what any truck driver wants.

They should have gone with a small diesel/electric hybrid.

Democrat city councils will be the only ones to purchase these.

Our community sprung up when the Gatorsports message board was shut down in the summer of 2014. We pride ourselves on offering Gator-biased, yet critical discussion among people of all different backgrounds. We are working every day to make sure our community is the best Gator message board you will find.

The management works very hard to make sure the community is running the best software, best designs, and all the other bells and whistles. Care to buy us a non-alcoholic Zima? We'd really appreciate it! Just click the "Donate" tab at the top of the page.
