Week 9 is in the books. Here are some stats that stood out from the final weekend of October.

Iowa State has defeated two top-five teams this season after doing so once prior in program history.

They defeated then-No. 3 Oklahoma on Oct. 7 and then beat No. 4 TCU 14-7 on Saturday. Before those games, ISU’s only win against a top-five team was Oklahoma State in 2011 (a 3-54-2 record). The Cyclones are 4-1 in conference play for the first time in school history, it’s their first four-game winning streak since 2005, and the 6-2 start is their best since 2002.

Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate produced a run of at least 70 yards for the fourth consecutive game.

His 82-yard run in a 58-37 win against Washington State was a career long. Tate’s past four games have included a 75-yard run against Colorado, a 71-yard run against UCLA a 76-yard run against Cal and the 82-yarder against Washington State. Tate is tied with Notre Dame running back Josh Adams for the national lead in 70-yard runs, but Adams has done it in 132 carries, while Tate has done it in 69. Tate ran for 840 yards in the month of October. Per ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura, only two players have run for more yards in a single month since 2004 — Andre Williams (November 2013) and Melvin Gordon (November 2014), who both ran for 1,092 yards.

Nine of Saquon Barkley’s 21 carries went for a loss of yardage against Ohio State.

Ohio State held Saquon Barkley to 44 rushing yards on 21 carries (2.1 per carry) in a 39-38 win, and 36 of those yards came on one run. The Buckeyes’ 18-point comeback against Penn State was the biggest ever for an Urban Meyer-coached team. They trailed 21-3 and 28-10, but outscored the Nittany Lions 19-3 in the fourth quarter for a 39-38 win.

Houston ended the nation’s longest winning streak with a 28-24 win against South Florida.

The Bulls had won 12 consecutive games, dating back to last year. It also ended their 24-game streak of scoring at least 30 points, which was an AP Poll-era record. Houston rushed for 255 yards and 5.3 yards per carry in the win, against a USF defense that had been allowing only 94.4 rushing yards per game and 2.7 per carry, both top-10 nationally. The winning TD came on a 20-yard run by quarterback D’Eriq King with 11 seconds remaining.

Boston College has scored 35 points in three consecutive games for the first time since 2002.

The Eagles’ 35-3 win against Florida State featured the most points BC has scored against the Seminoles and its largest margin of victory in the series. BC went nearly eight full years between 40-point ACC games. The win against Florida State was nearly their third in a row this season.

Arkansas has given up at least 24 points in a half in every SEC game this season.

They trailed Ole Miss 31-7 at one point in Saturday’s first half, but rallied for a 38-37 win. The other such halves included 26 in the Texas A&M second half, 31 in the South Carolina second half, 24 in the Alabama first half and 35 in the Auburn second half.

Tennessee finally scored its first offensive touchdown in 15 quarters and more than a month.

In the second quarter against UMass on Sept. 23, the Vols scored on a touchdown pass. After that, they were shut out by Georgia, had an idle week, kicked three field goals in a loss to South Carolina and scored a defensive touchdown in a loss at Alabama. In the second quarter of Saturday’s 29-26 loss against Kentucky, the Vols offense finally reached the end zone on a short touchdown run. Tennessee scored two touchdowns, but had to settle for six field goal attempts in the game.

Georgia beat Florida 42-7 while completing just four passes.

Jake Fromm was 4-for-7 for 101 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Dawgs rushed for 292 yards and 8.3 per carry. Sony Michel had 137 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries, for a 22.8 yards-per-carry average.

Rutgers scored points against the Big Ten East’s big four for the first time in nearly two full years.

The Scarlet Knights scored 14 points in a Saturday loss at Michigan. It was their first points against Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State or Michigan State since a 49-16 loss to Michigan on Nov. 7, 2015. In that span, Rutgers lost 58-0 to Ohio State, 78-0 to Michigan, 49-0 to Michigan State, 39-0 to Penn State and 56-0 to Ohio State.

Oklahoma had an 18-play drive to run out the final 11:16 against Texas Tech in a 49-27 win.

The Sooners started at their own 1-yard line and converted three third downs and one fourth down, reaching the Texas Tech 30-yard line before kneeling out the clock, totaling 65 yards. OU’s previous longest drive in the game went 10 plays and 75 yards in just 3:56.
