Seat belt hardware has been re-installed on the passenger side:

Removed the disgusting steering wheel that is practically in pieces. It's getting replaced. The horn cover was removed, sanded, and repainted:

Also finagled that carpeted door sill into the passenger side and replaced the carpeted area right under the crash pad:

Got the new carpet glued to the shell for the driver's side sill. Tomorrow I'll trim it and get it in the car.

The last piece of carpet to be changed is in the piece underneath the steering wheel. Here it is before and after:

Got to finally put a bunch of the dash and console pieces back in the car:

Ox. I know barely anything about all this. What do you glue the carpet down with and how much do you apply? I feel like I'd be scared of putting too much or too little

It's a 3M spray adhesive. Spray a couple of coats on both surfaces to be joined, wait a minute for them to be tacky, then join them.

You don't use glue on all the carpet, only pieces like the ones that hang upside down under the dash, or the ones that have to be glued to the plastic shell that goes over the door sills. The ones on the floor are held down by gravity and a few trim pieces, or a screw here and there.

But the hideous, faded red is already tacky.

The black looks so much nicer.

And it occurs to me that it being a convertible has been extremely fortuitous in your efforts of working on this thing...easier to move around and access!

You're doing a very nice job...for a Mod.

Now this is the truth, especially considering I'm 6'3". The car is very tight on the inside. I can stand up when I want to get out.

The tunnels where you put your feet are extremely narrow. This generation of Corvette was criticized a lot for that. The C5 interior layout was much improved.

Got the door sill on the driver's side installed, and put in the seat belt hardware and emergency brake cover:

Unfortunately, it's time to dive in to the driver's side door panel, which is a mess:

Throughout this entire thread you've been neglecting the driver's door...what makes the driver's door so much more difficult than the rest?
