Bureaucrats.The 2029 project?
Next quorstion: Is that the job of THE AD? Shouldn't that be an AAD or likely lower handling the nuts and bolts of stuff like that? He comes out of sports information. I think several of them do. One is an attorney who apparently never won a case.
Why do we spend so much money in the ADs office, most make close to a mill, yet don't have any actual expertise in there? There isn't a single one who knows football either.
it would definitely be a massive earth moving project. It's a great location and much larger than the current spot of the Swamp. 2 years ago I suggested the land next to Lake Alice, next to the field the band practices on. Tons of space there and having the lake next to the stadium would provide some great shots, but the environmental zoning issues and ecosystem disruption would most likely prevent that from being an option. The would actually be a good place for a new stadium. Isn't the grading massively steep down that road?
my proposal and vision is building a new Swamp with at least 90k seats, if not 95k, plus an entire ring of suites around the stadium. Have an overhang for the seating area and the noise would remain within the stadium and be absurdly loud! All concourses would be open so you could still see the field while at concessions or heading to the bathroom. Fan friendly, but even more intimidating and insanely hard to play in for opposing teams.I'm not for any project that takes away seats. Call me a dreamer but I don't believe we'll be in the dumpster forever.
Just make sure the sun is unobstructed on the visiting bench from noon till 6pm'ish with shade on our side the entire timemy proposal and vision is building a new Swamp with at least 90k seats, if not 95k, plus an entire ring of suites around the stadium. Ours and any other athletic department is over-staffed with redundant positions with under qualified staff in those positions. Definitely the red headed step child of government bureaucracy. As for our staff and being so incompetent...par for the course. The 2029 project?

It's just money and tree credits. I've seen oyster beds on the East side of Villano bridge (aka Francis & Mary Usina), in St. Augustine, get turned into six multi-million dollar homes in a gated community.2 years ago I suggested the land next to Lake Alice, next to the field the band practices on. Thank you. Lake Alice in the background of our stadium would be awesome, especially for fans up top and for t.v.It's just money and tree credits. Because your Lake Alice vision's a great idea.
As to the crazys and protestors, just tell em we're gonna drain the sewage into Lake Alice to feed the gators.Thank you. Lake Alice in the background of our stadium would be awesome, especially for fans up top and for t.v.
I dated a "Land Use Attorney" years ago in Park City, UT and she told me something that makes sense...when you want to build, try to build where something already sits so you potentially avoid having to do a land use study, which takes a lot of time and money and also brings out the whack jobs to protest, and it's much easier to get approval where it's already zoned. But you're right, money and tree/green space credits isn't an issue. But I suspect many in the community and on campus would protest building something so large on that space next to the lake.
There would be a very large "save the frogs" movement for sure. But I suspect many in the community and on campus would protest building something so large on that space next to the lake.
Agreed. Traffic congestion a bitch anywhere. But pre and post-game tailgating there as well as walking around Lake Alice heading into and out of the stadium on fall Saturday's would be freaking cool. I looked at it more from an "experience" aspect than a logistical "flow".Don't know about Lake Alice. That would create all sorts of congestion issues. University Ave. is the pulse of the campus.
That could backfire but I like the idea

wow, you're going way back to old-schoolNo argument. It's got a cool laid-back vibe. Saw some really great concerts there back in the day. Dicky Betts. Allmans.
Interesting.
