I'm not for any project that takes away seats. Call me a dreamer but I don't believe we'll be in the dumpster forever.

The 2029 project?

Next quorstion: Is that the job of THE AD? Shouldn't that be an AAD or likely lower handling the nuts and bolts of stuff like that? He comes out of sports information. I think several of them do. One is an attorney who apparently never won a case.

Why do we spend so much money in the ADs office, most make close to a mill, yet don't have any actual expertise in there? There isn't a single one who knows football either.
Bureaucrats.

The would actually be a good place for a new stadium. Isn't the grading massively steep down that road?
it would definitely be a massive earth moving project. It's a great location and much larger than the current spot of the Swamp. 2 years ago I suggested the land next to Lake Alice, next to the field the band practices on. Tons of space there and having the lake next to the stadium would provide some great shots, but the environmental zoning issues and ecosystem disruption would most likely prevent that from being an option.

my proposal and vision is building a new Swamp with at least 90k seats, if not 95k, plus an entire ring of suites around the stadium. Have an overhang for the seating area and the noise would remain within the stadium and be absurdly loud! All concourses would be open so you could still see the field while at concessions or heading to the bathroom. Fan friendly, but even more intimidating and insanely hard to play in for opposing teams.

Just make sure the sun is unobstructed on the visiting bench from noon till 6pm'ish with shade on our side the entire time

One is an attorney who apparently never won a case. Are any of them really capable at all, beyond "this looks prettier to me"?

Ours and any other athletic department is over-staffed with redundant positions with under qualified staff in those positions. Definitely the red headed step child of government bureaucracy. As for our staff and being so incompetent...par for the course.

I'd imagine that an A.D. being part of the stadium project team would be the norm. Leading that internal team? That I'm not sure of. But yes, you'd think out of the 8 million AADs we have on staff that one of them has to be remotely in charge of "facilities", but they probably don't have any experience in such a large scope project. I don't know if Stricklin oversaw an expansion of the MSU football stadium. But just as Fuchs being an interim Pres isn't an excuse not to fire Billy or Strick, the same applies to Strick being intricately involved with the stadium expansion...it shouldn't hinder firing him for poor performance.

It's just money and tree credits. I've seen oyster beds on the East side of Villano bridge (aka Francis & Mary Usina), in St. Augustine, get turned into six multi-million dollar homes in a gated community.

Because your Lake Alice vision's a great idea.

Thank you. Lake Alice in the background of our stadium would be awesome, especially for fans up top and for t.v.

I dated a "Land Use Attorney" years ago in Park City, UT and she told me something that makes sense...when you want to build, try to build where something already sits so you potentially avoid having to do a land use study, which takes a lot of time and money and also brings out the whack jobs to protest, and it's much easier to get approval where it's already zoned. But you're right, money and tree/green space credits isn't an issue. But I suspect many in the community and on campus would protest building something so large on that space next to the lake.

As to the crazys and protestors, just tell em we're gonna drain the sewage into Lake Alice to feed the gators.

Don't know about Lake Alice. That would create all sorts of congestion issues. University Ave. is the pulse of the campus.

Agreed. Traffic congestion a bitch anywhere. But pre and post-game tailgating there as well as walking around Lake Alice heading into and out of the stadium on fall Saturday's would be freaking cool. I looked at it more from an "experience" aspect than a logistical "flow".

No argument. It's got a cool laid-back vibe. Saw some really great concerts there back in the day. Dicky Betts. Allmans.

Interesting.

Tennessee was a laughingstock, losing and changing one loser coach for another every couple of years.

They hired a great AD (from UCF  ) who understands how important football is and fixed it. He got the administration straightened out, hired the right coach, and supercharged their NIL. Now he's ahead of the game on profit sharing (which likely starts next year). This is an aggressive, forward-thinking leader who wants an elite football program for his alumni, students, and fans. He's giving them that and they're giving him all the money he needs to keep it up.

Not one student or alum is going to b!tch about paying an extra 10% for a football ticket when they have a fun, exciting team kicking ass on the field.

This is the roadmap we need to follow.

Moving the stadium further out could certainly kill a bunch of businesses. How low is the land around Lake alice? Just think soil stabilization and all those sinking shands buildings. But I like thT idea.
Definitely landlocked where it is, and heck, half this board will have passed if you bulldozed and waited for a rebuild. ;)
