Moving the stadium further out could certainly kill a bunch of businesses. How low is the land around Lake alice? Just think soil stabilization and all those sinking shands buildings. But I like thT idea.
Definitely landlocked where it is, and heck, half this board will have passed if you bulldozed and waited for a rebuild. ;)
Agreed. It's not a dead in the water (pun intended) issue, but the potential issues and costs would potentially far outweigh the possibility of building there. The golf course, which is about 185 acres, is a great spot and it's basically open land, minus some trees. Plenty of land to work with and build around it. Going off campus just wouldn't feel right. College football should be on campus and students can walk to the stadium. Still makes me laugh at what a joke the Miami program is having to bus to Hard Rock stadium. They should've partnered with the Marlins and played their football games at their stadium considering it's right there next to campus.
Rebuilding/remodeling the current Swamp would become an absolute logistical and traffic nightmare, not even counting losing tens of thousands of seats in-season while construction occurs. One of my Admin Assistants, who is an FSU grad, keeps telling me that the reason they lost both home games is because of the loss of seats at Doak due to the construction there :bwahaha::bna:

Ours and any other athletic department is over-staffed with redundant positions with under qualified staff in those positions. Definitely the red headed step child of government bureaucracy. As for our staff and being so incompetent...par for the course.

I'd imagine that an A.D. being part of the stadium project team would be the norm. Leading that internal team? That I'm not sure of. But yes, you'd think out of the 8 million AADs we have on staff that one of them has to be remotely in charge of "facilities", but they probably don't have any experience in such a large scope project. I don't know if Stricklin oversaw an expansion of the MSU football stadium. But just as Fuchs being an interim Pres isn't an excuse not to fire Billy or Strick, the same applies to Strick being intricately involved with the stadium expansion...it shouldn't hinder firing him for poor performance.
If he is the only one on staff who has even been on a stadium project then make him former (Im not saying Emeritus because he has no merit) AD and special assistant AD for facilities.

He has proven completely incompetent at running the dept as far as hiring and disciplinary issues go.

That cant slide.

So I was told earlier this afternoon that one dynamic in play with Stricklin and how soon he'd be fired is his work on the stadium project. If he was fired anytime soon, it would set things back regarding that project considering he's been working directly with the firm that's putting together options for the project. This isn't a priority for many of us Bulls or even the UAA. But it's definitely a notch Strick wanted to have on his belt prior to retiring. This was still a few years away as any type of large scope project like this takes major planning. I was actually finishing up a proposal to present to the UAA in the coming weeks that would be a massive stadium project. An actual new Swamp, built on the land that the Mark Bostic Golf Course is currently on (many details I'll post in this thread if anyone is interested). I had actually let a few of my fellow Bulls and UAA staff know that I wasn't interested in sitting down with Stricklin to present this to him because I truly felt his time at UF had ran its course and that change from the top was imperative and necessary during this current school year. He doesn't deserve to play a role in any stadium project, much less our next FB coach hire.
The you can't fire Stricklin now because he's been on point on the stadium project is an absurd argument. You can't really think Stricklin's day is covered with stadium meetings can you/

UF admin to AD candidate: we are progressing on a new stadium project. Describe how you would manage a mid-stream project

Tennessee was a laughingstock, losing and changing one loser coach for another every couple of years.

They hired a great AD (from UCF  ) who understands how important football is and fixed it. He got the administration straightened out, hired the right coach, and supercharged their NIL. Now he's ahead of the game on profit sharing (which likely starts next year). This is an aggressive, forward-thinking leader who wants an elite football program for his alumni, students, and fans. He's giving them that and they're giving him all the money he needs to keep it up.

Not one student or alum is going to b!tch about paying an extra 10% for a football ticket when they have a fun, exciting team kicking ass on the field.

This is the roadmap we need to follow.

Alex.

Maybe we could hire his brother Mike as our new AD so he could follow the career path of his father and each of his siblings.
I labeled Mike an AD masquerading as a basketball coach during his second season at Florida so this could be his big chance.

The stadium project is a master stroke. If Stricklin's hires can't win enough football games, he'll simply improve the wins to seats ratio.

That's a good point.

Plus all the allegations that we won't pay "the going rate" for coaches and staff is being presented poorly. We have one of the best millions per win ratios in all of coaching. Billy probably going to be 50 million/ 7 p5 wins.

UF has the top construction management program in the country. I can assure you there is enough experience and talent to take point on this scale of a project. We hired SS as AD not Project Executive. It is an absurd excuse to not rid this cancer.

I'm not for any project that takes away seats. Call me a dreamer but I don't believe we'll be in the dumpster forever.
This is common sense. Which explains why Scottie striclin would be against it . The swamp is an iconic venue . That bastard shouldn’t be allowed within 50 miles of it .

The Miami roadmap.

Alex.

Can’t think of his name off the top of my head, but when I heard they’d gotten him to come back as AD, and heard the comments he made, then they hired Cristobal, I knew we were in for trouble and said as much. Like it or not, that program is locked in right now. It’s why we can’t have just any head coach. We have two absolute assassins to our north and our south who are at their alma maters, who have hated UF for decades and want nothing more than to destroy us. Top down, we have to match that intensity.

Some tech savvy poster needs to post the CBS sports story on Stricklin bragging how he recruited Napier rather than interviewed him.

Some tech savvy poster needs to post the CBS sports story on Stricklin bragging how he recruited Napier rather than interviewed him.

"When I went to meet Billy, to me that to me was more a recruiting trip then it was an interview," Stricklin told Sports Illustrated in April 2022. "He was my priority, everything I'd learned about him, he was the first guy I wanted to go see and I wanted him to know he was the first guy I wanted to go see. My goal there was to make sure he knew he was our priority No. 1. And then, [No. 2] to make sure everything I had read and learned and knew about him that the reality matched up to that."
