"When I went to meet Billy, to me that to me was more a recruiting trip then it was an interview," Stricklin told Sports Illustrated in April 2022. "He was my priority, everything I'd learned about him, he was the first guy I wanted to go see and I wanted him to know he was the first guy I wanted to go see. My goal there was to make sure he knew he was our priority No. 1. And then, [No. 2] to make sure everything I had read and learned and knew about him that the reality matched up to that."

Yikes.

You guys are falling for fake news. That CBS article is false. Boosters say they are choosing the next coach.

We need a Gator in that position. I think a guy like Brad Culpepper would be a worthwhile consideration. I understand he's not a sports admin guy. But he's multi-generational Gator. He is in the College Football Hall of Fame. He is also a successful attorney with decades of experience in contracts and negotiation and a leader.

Nobody's falling for anything. My comment was a joke that sailed high and Ancient thought Strick's comments were so outlandish that they deserved special mention.

So I complied. Boosters will have input. Fuchs or his successor will make the call possibly aided by a special task force created by the trustees. My opinion.

The reality is Napier can be fired at any moment, sources tell CBS Sports. Questions abound, too, about the future of athletics director Scott Stricklin, who serves an interim university president with a board of trustees comprised of powerful political players in the state.

What in the holly hell is this crap? Powerful political players? Look at the BOT. Do any of those people (I'm trying to speak nicely today so I can win a bet from someone who said I'm not capable of not criticizing anyone before 11 am today) look like they're powerful or a political player? We've already covered the multi-colored hair "power player" in earlier posts so I won't beat that dead woke vegan (I mean horse) again, but our BOT doesn't have John Morgan on it. The only two members that are anybody of importance is Heavener and Ridley (Chairman of Augusta National). I need to donate to DeSantis and try to get on that board.

When reached for comment on the future of the football program, Stricklin offered to CBS Sports: basically, Strick gave a Kamala Harris word salad non-answer...he avoided answering the question and deflected to the success of our Gator athletic programs, blah blah blah. What did CBS Sports expect Stick to say? "Well, I haven't eaten or slept in a week from the stress and worry of losing my job due to my idiotic incompetence. I never should've banked on Billy. My wife left me. My kids hate me now. My dog bit me. Life sucks. But hey, I'm getting the Swamp a new facelift, so life is good".

New CEO rule #1 (and no other rule is even close to this one): "Stack the Board of Directors with YOUR people."

Just ask Carly Fiorina.

Hell, it's even got its own section in The Dictator's Handbook! (h/t to @Bernardo de la Paz on the book recommendation... made all three of my kids read it).

"There is a lot of speculation that you can't survive the firing of Billy Napier. With a straight face, Scott, explain to us how this is unfounded and inaccurate."

he'd start glitching out or he'd talk about how there's still a lot of games to play and how much confidence we have in our football coach and program. Basically, an answer without an answer.

I say we keep Billy as long as he wins. As soon as he sh!ts the bed again like he did against UM and A&M, he's fired. That will add some spice to the games. Make sure he knows every game is do or die.
