Say what you will, but I believe there currently are 5 previous major winners who’ve told the PGA to phuchoff. More are likely to follow. People forget that the “PGA” is merely an organization made up of all the professional golfers. The problem we’re seeing now is that the administration part of the PGA is acting as if they are more important than the players who are actually the ones who comprise the group. It’s amazingly similar to what’s going on with our government in DC thinking they are the power holders and not the people.
While the PGA has done well in years past, much like the NCAA, it doesn’t seem to be able to change with the times.
It’s eerily similar to the NCAA.

I hate okra. I don’t even like seeing it on my wife’s plate (she loves it.)

Doesn’t mean I want it’s sale banned or it’s market controlled. But if it dropped off the menu it wouldn’t bother me a bit.
So...you'd be happy if capitalism completely went away eh? And was replaced with what? Socialism? GTFOH with that BS.

Just illustrating that my dislike of LIV doesn’t have anything to do with an attack on capitalism or free markets. I didn’t say they shouldn’t be allowed to try, or the government should shut them down or anything like that.

Yes. They are both associations that serve an inherently unequal set of members. Every league or association has a Pareto distribution of success which has inherent tensions between the few clustered at the top and the many.

Tiger moves the needle like no one else, so how should he be compensated vs. Rocco Mediate who pushed Tiger to a moment of great and memorable victory, adding to Tiger’s legend? Appearance money, how they allocate the purses, advertising, NIL etc. all play into it. LIV is forcing a reevaluation of all that.

Ah OK. That makes sense. My apologies for misunderstanding.

If the PGA is hoping this will somehow magically work out for them, I offer the following advice:

I believe the PGA is going to be left with the young, up and comers, and the LIV will draw more and more established Pros (outside or Roy)

The biggest determinant of whether or not LIV competes with the PGA is going to be if they get tv coverage and not just streaming.

Hmm, I wonder what the Golf Channel would say if they were offered a few hundred million for exclusive rights to carry the new tour coverage?

If the LIV starts picking off new PGA qualifiers with potential at relative bargain basement prices, in a few years what's the difference in the two tours. Young guy's with potential might be very interested in guaranteed money. Two or three more "big" name moves, washed up or not, then add some young guns and the Networks are going to be ****ting their pants. We committed how many dollars for this?

The Open - come one come all
The Masters - bigger than the PGA
The US Open - We want the best

Next you will see LIV setting up big sponsored tournaments. Maybe even building phenomenal resorts to host.

Snobs at the PGA read this all wrong.

I wonder if the LIV will play American courses, or will the pga have enough weight to stop it?
