Haven't seen any opinions on it around here. Seems very abrupt. Opine.
We really need to get out of Afghanistan. I like Rand Paul...I don't see what we gain trying to fight everyone else's wars. I'd rather pay down the debt and pay the troops and give them the best.
I agreed when Obama did it, I agree this time as well. I really don't give a schit if ISIS retakes it. Let them blow each other up over there, refocus our efforts to make sure that doesn't happen here. Not a single American life is worth any sandfleas.
The rebellion is and has been over. I doubt it’s abrupt. Has to occur sometime. Unfortunately looks like we are going to sacrifice Kurds, at least I am sure how it will be sold. BTW, How did we get there?
I wonder if this might be a little leverage on getting some wording in that extension to let some military funds be used on the wall.
Nearly across the board, every thing I've read has described both the announcement and timetable of this as a "surprise." One post said that it was announced over twitter and many high ranking staff didn't know.
......im guessing Putin made the call on this one.........Syria was a tragedy I never saw coming.........just awful but most of the middle east is a clstrFCK. We probably should say fck it and take our toys and go home.
Of course Trump didn't announce it to some people or the media would be running stories 24/7 ahead of time about why we couldn't pull out. Many of the same people pulling the strings are the same ones that were in on all that Arab Spring crap under Obama. They want us stuck there for a long time. The bastards were financing ISIS under Obama in reality while fighting them.
We should arm the Kurds and they can take care of themselves. That's all they want...equipment
People crack me up
I was looking forward to your take on this......
He did exactly what he said he was going to do and what we should have done in these situations (like Afghanistan at first)... go in, do the dirty job fast and hard, leave... rinse and repeat as necessary. Cracks me up how in one breath, people will say "We are still in Afghanistan" and in the next say, "this is a mistake to get out of Syria".
BINGO.....Our biggest threat is closer to home than most of the uninformed are aware of....They're literally pulling dozens of terrorist out of the caravan on a daily basis...we can always go back and I'd bet money we will within 2 or 3 years when the wall is finished.
Obama lost Syria. Thought Trump should have said so and gotten out immediately upon taking office.
Good call! Didn't make the connection, but given the timing....make sense.
This. ISIS has been successfully rolled back and there's other ways to counter Russia and Iran in the region *without* a forward presence in Syria. Plus: I doubt special forces will be completely withdrawn and there's no shortage of airpower we have in the area to hammer ISIS when or if they pop up again. Though he should still tell the Joint Chiefs and military leaders--that's about the only thing I'll fault him for in making this move.
I don't know but seems abrupt. I keep hearing from pretty much everybody that anybody with any military or foreign policy chops said it is a dumb idea. ISIS is greatly weakened but they aren't eradicated. By leaving we are kind of leaving the Kurds, who have been instrumental in fighting ISIS, out to dry. The only person applauding this is Putin. I think there's your answer.
