What's your favorite action movie?
(You could add your favorite action character or actor if you are willing to color outside the lines a little) ;)

The 007 series is about the only thing that comes to mind ... maybe the Bourne Trilogy.
Daniel Craig, in my opinion, is the second best Bond.

I couldn't really follow the Mission Impossible movies... because I grew up in Leon county.

And not a series... but I enjoyed True Lies.

Fully agree on this. I'm not generally an actions movie person. I become too analytical and question how they didn't die or how one person takes on an entire army. It's definitely me, and I know I'm in the minority here. I just can't get into it. But for some reason, James Bond is the exception. I can watch them all day. And I think Craig was a brilliant choice to take the franchise into this era. Connery was great, and I didn't actually mind Moore, but DC is solid.

I saw the first Mission Impossible. I liked it, but had no desire to watch any further.

When I first saw it... Predator was the best movie I had ever seen. It still ranks as one of my favorites. Maybe more of a scifi than action. But close enough.

True Lies is indeed fantastic. I wouldnt have thought to list it, but it's great.

The first Mission Impossible was pretty good.

Die Hard is a true classic.

Does Full Metal Jacket qualify?

Lots of good ones and hard to pick one. Lots that bleed into other categories. Gonna judge it by if I can’t turn it off once I start watching.

die hard
Predator
T2
Lethal weapon
Point Break?

also some series have some good entries like Bond, Marvel and MI series

I saw T2 on a sneak preview a few days before the opening. I think that was the only time I have been a theater and every seat was occupied and the sound system was rattling the building. That movie was absolutely incredible for its time.

The original Point Break.... another excellent pick.

It really was. Arnold had an amazing run there but that movie seemed to knock almost everything out of the park.

on a side note, despite being insane, think about all the movies Gary Busy was in. Never the star but in a lot of them.

I enjoyed the first and third Indiana Jones movies and I also like the original Blade Runner.

I can still identify with Rutger Hauer’s character…”I’ve done…questionable things.” and “I want more life, f—ker!”

Daryl Hannah was pretty hot at that time as well. I enjoyed most of Harrison Ford’s earlier movies, but Blade Runner is one I can easily rewatch and usually find something I missed previously. And besides, Chris Rainey was obviously a fan…

When I was maybe 10, I had HBO in my room. Predator 2 had a pretty solid nudity scene in the first like 10 minutes. I lost interest after that.

No idea what my parents were thinking, btw.

As a kid watched a lot of Predator, Robocop, Rambo, American Ninja, Full Metal Jacket, Commando, etc...

In my teen years 007 movies, but I wouldn't consider those action movies.

Different action movies for different moods

Actual decent movies with actions:
Die Hard
Predator
Robocop
Bad Boys
Rambo First Blood
Terminator 1&2
From Dust Til Dawn
The Matrix

Schitty Fun Action movies (turn off your brain there is no logic):
Shoot'em Up - 80's music video with killing and fcking added bonus Monica Belluci (spelling)
John Wick Franchise - love the world created, the story blah
Rambo 2&3
Machete

Other movies mentioned I just don't see as action movies:
Full Metal Jacket (one of my all time favs)
Indiana Jones - see more as an adventure movie
Blade Runner - Scifi Adventure beautiful movie though
Mission Impossible (first one) - Spy Triller
007 movies, Sean Connery is the best 007, but Casino Royale (2006) is the best Bond movie in my opinion

As is so often the case, our views on a movie are in lockstep.

Though my favorite Bond girl is Anya in Spy Who Loved Me, so that one is always right there as well.

Casino Royale (2006) is the best Bond movie in my opinion

that opening Parkour scene was killer... really set the tone. And I love the dark side of the Bond character, as well as the more of a dramatic sense to it. Unlike some of the Roger Moore versions that bordered on slapstick.
Kind of like comparing the Adam West to the Christian Bale - if you get my drift.

speaking of ... I would assume the Batman - Dark Knight /Nolan series would qualify as action... no?

I would say the black and white sequence at the beginning where he earns his 00, sets the tone, the first kill being gritty and hard then the second one being easier. I do love the parkour scene. Especially with him running with the world champion free runner (the other actor) at the time, it's amazingly well done.

The Nolan films are more crime/triller than action... though like all Nolan movies the action is so good.
