Sky King- Crime fighting flying rancher - his plane was named the Songbird and Penny was his niece

From Jimmy Buffet's "Pencil Thin Moustache":

I remember bein' buck-toothed and skinny
Writin' fan letters to Sky's niece Penny
Oh I wish I had a pencil thin mustache
Then I could solve some mysteries too

The Fall Guy had an episode where they raced the Baja 1000. Oh, and Heather Thomas could make even mom jeans look good.

Nick Adams as Johnny Yuma, the Rebel.

The great theme song sung by Johnny Cash starts at the 1:44 mark.

I once saw Heather Thomas in a bikini signing autographs at a surf contest at the Cocoa Beach pier. The best way I can describe her is that she looked... horny.

On a somewhat different note, how many of you remember the Friday night "preview" shows when the new Saturday morning cartoon line-ups were due out in the fall? Way back when Saturday from 8-11 was "the" cartoon time?

Super-hyping of all the "fantastic new shows". Variations on Bugs Bunny/Road-Runner, Superfriends, and Scooby-Doo were the staples, along with a plethora of here-one-year-and-gone-the-next shows.

Others memories from the Saturday (sometimes Sunday) morning slate - Thunderbirds, Hong Kong Phooey (look, another Kung Fu spinoff...), Shazam!, HR Puff-n-Stuff, Land of the Lost.

Saturday cartoons were great. Just like the once a year viewing of the Wizard Of Oz or even better the years they showed Peter Pan with Mary Martin

Sid and Marty Kroft... they had some weird shows (Lidsville comes to mind).

There was a show on HBO in the 90's called Mr. Show (David Cross and Bob Odenkirk) - hilarious sketch comedy.
Here's their take on HR Puf-n-Stuf

In no particular order....

Dallas - I always rooted for J.R., and thought Bobby was a pussy. Charlene Tilton was smokin' back in the day.

MASH - still watchable, but I always say when you saw B.J. with a mustache for the first time, the show turned into an Alan Alda liberal soapbox.

Dragnet/Adam 12/Emergency - the Jack Webb trilogy still rocks.

Taxi - great comedy.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 - cult classic.

Now, three 'obscure' shows that I liked.....

Star Hustler - that late night 5-10 snipet on PBS with the late Dr. Jack Horkheimer....not an astronomy geek, but he made it interesting.

Creature Feature - folks that grew up in the TB area know that on Saturday afternoons knew that Dr. Paul Bearer kicked ass on Channel 44, with bad comedy and bad movies. Dick Bennick was one of the nicest people to meet in person.

Dr. Gene Scott - the late TV pseudo-preacher out of LA who showed videos of horses and women, smoked cigars, cursed, and would leave an empty chair on the screen with a phone number if fund raising goals weren't met.......great late-night entertainment after coming home buzzed.....the guy was actually a legit theologian it turned out, and really knew his stuff.

Good list. I was a big fan of Rat Patrol, as well as Combat!.
