Tyrie Cleveland should move to FS. Prove me wrong.

I was pretty adamant about him being the best TALENT in our backfield.

I was also unsure whether he had the head to keep it together.

I'm not ready to give up on anybody, at any position, until they get a chance to get some coaching.

Well when your team is only completing 12-15 passes a game with a limited QB it's kinda hard to tell what a players true potential is. He's certainly an upgrade from what we've had here between 2009 and this year.

I'll be the first to say that while there are still some ingrained bad habits out there on the field I do see some steady incremental improvements from about half of our players....In other words we have a glimmer of hope of escaping the frustrations of futility.

Although we had a smoke & mirrors somewhat successful year in 2012 and a stretch of games with Grier in 2015, this actually feels like growing program again. In years past even when one of our guys made a good play you almost had that feeling in the back of your head that they would go back to the same mistakes they made time and time again on the very next play.....That's the epitome of bad coaching.

Disagree BUT...Tony Rowell came to UF as a DL. SOS identified some weakness in an otherwise excellent OL in 1990 (Glenn Neely maybe?) and moved Rowell to OL where he brought an aggressiveness and nasty attitude that was lacking. Made the whole OL better. His kid plays for us now (scrub, not even sure of his position).

Penn State wanted Jim Kelley as a LB.

Everybody wanted Antwan Chiles as a LB, Spurrier took him as a QB (buried on the depth chart behind Shane Matthews, Terry Dean. and Danny Wuerffel, he transferred to Liberty and put up good numbers).

Our starting DT Slayton was a 4 or 5 star at Guard coming out of HS (although he also played DT).

Jevon Kearse came to UF as a Safety (hence his number 42), mostly played here at LB, then became a DE in the NFL.

40s are pretty common numbers for LBs, probably the preferred numbers, although you are right he was initially a safety.

Actually I can think of plenty of 40s, 44s whatever that are LBs and almost none that are DBs.

40s and 50s for linebackers mostly goes back to the days of two way players. The fullback and OG kind of dudes were often the LBs. There are rukes for offensive players, ie 50s 60s 70s are linemen who arent eligible to catch a forward pass but no rules really regarding uniform numbers for the defense.

Sorry, total rabit trail. It is how I roll.

One game w Grier breh. One game and one pass vs Tinerc after a bad game.

Butterteeth even manage to throttle Grier back into the TOP and punt offense in the second half vs Rebelbears.

Lots of fullbacks wore 44 but his 42 was Ronnie Lott's 42.

One game dude??? I remember Grier single handedly winning the UK and Mizzou games and the only reason we were 6-0 in 2015.
Cleveland also had a couple of huge plays against LSU in 2016....and speaking of Grier and Cleveland I can't even imagine the numbers those 2 would be putting up for us....

BTW I know you don't think rushing TD's should count but next time we break one off for a long score make sure and watch TC busting his ass blocking for his team mates downfield........ and try not to cringe at the thought of a WR blocking :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

                :lol3:

every opportunity... yeah, shark humper would eventually ruin his game, but never will get me to dis on Grier, wanted to be a Gator, a bit of the cocky-moxy-it factor you need in a gunslinger type, just about off the bench clutch attitude... I've been known to party, so kind of hard for me to preach from the pulpit on purity of character, lol. Gotta love the poking and opposite aisle positions when the boy with the crazy ass father comes up.

Single. Handedly. Winning. @ UK 14-9 13-22 125 with 1 INT, 0 TD and one yard rush TD on a dominant 19 yard drive. (Clearly, a 19 yard drive indicates the QB was the only one doing anything this game. Hence, "single handedly")

Single. Handedly. Winning. @ Mizzou 21-3 20-33 208 0 TD, 0 INT. Kelvin Taylor 99 yards and 2 TD's. Tabor INT TD...but, Single. Handedly. Winning.

Yo, I have no dog in this fight, but the romanticizing that has happened over Grier's UF time is ridiculous. The guy was good and obviously talented, but he wasn't dominating and dang sure wasn't single handedly winning games. If you want to argue the stats for these games and/or the offenses inability to score in the second half in both games, be my guest.

This move would be thoroughly endorsed by bozo muschamp . That alone should tell you what kind of idea it is .

This feels like a summer thread. I’ll add another example.

Sam Shields went from WR at scUM to NFL CB.

That said, while I’m not advocating for Cleveland to change, he could.

Oh it must have been the offensive line doing all the work......I had forgotten how good Mason "Halter Top" and that bunch were.....Laughable dude.....laughable. Not to mention the half dozen key scrambles in those 2 games to keep drives alive along with several almost un makeable throws to Jake McGee on 3rd down with 7 defenders draped all over him.....

But back on topic, I'm sure TC's numbers wouldn't be any different if we hadn't run off this years likely Heisman winner....

No, it is the exact OPPOSITE of what Chump would do. He would sign 6-8 DB/athketes and move the terrible ones to offense.
