One of my favorite Gator punters. Loved the fake punt vs bamuh in the SECCG in 93, I think?

Honest curiosity inquiry. When aluminum bats first came out, they were deemed too lively - the batted ball came off the bat with too much speed = endangered infielders? That first season, the CBB HR winner hit like 48 HRs. Hell, a shortstop for FSU hit 5 homers in one game. When that big HR leader went to the majors, he had inadequate power with wooden bats.

Next, manufacturers toned down the aluminum bat recoil and CBB stars struggled to hit more than 22 HRs per season. Which brings me to Gator star Peter Alonso chasing 40+ HRs in the majors, using wood. Did he hit even 20 HRs in college? Could they "enliven" those college bats so a few more HRs can entertain us? What dynamics do y'all think are at play with Alonso's power?

I know the # of games increase, but Alonso still seems more power hitter than his college persona. Any conversation worth here?
