Florida football ticket prices jump 21% on the secondary market for 2019 schedule

Following the win at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl last season, demand for tickets to see the Gators at “The Swamp,” is up 21% over last year, from a $149 average asking price on the secondary market in 2018 to $189 in 2019, according to secondary ticket marketplace TicketIQ.com. That price put tickets to a Florida home game in the top 20 most expensive across the NCAA.

Florida’s schedule features two FCS teams in the first month, when it hosts Tennessee Martin and Towson. But other than that, the Gators Southeastern Conference Schedule is a bear, and includes home games against Auburn, Florida State and Tennessee – the three priciest games, according to TicketIQ.

Florida opens its season in the annual game against Miami at Orlando on August 24, before its September 7 home opener. The Gators finished second in the SEC East last season.

Below is a look at Florida’s six home games in Gainesville for the 2019 schedule:

September 7 vs. Tennessee Martin

  • Average asking price/get-in price: $101/$41
Florida is one of two SEC teams that Tennessee Martin will play in 2019, and the game against the Gators marks the first time these teams have met. The $101 average asking price is the second cheapest for a game The Swamp this season. The game will be Florida’s first home game of the season, and second overall after it opens versus Miami on August 24.

September 21 vs. Tennessee

  • Average asking price/get-in price: $236/$116
Sometimes called “The Third Saturday in September” game, the Florida-Tennessee rivalry dates to 1916 and Florida holds a 28-20 all-time series advantage. The Gators have won the last two meetings, including beating Tennessee, 47-21, at Knoxville on September 22, 2018. The game is the third priciest on the secondary market this season.

September 28 vs. Towson

  • Average asking price/get-in price: $98/$41
These teams have never met before and Towson is the second FCS opponent on Florida’s schedule this season. The average asking price for this game is the cheapest at The Swamp this season, and a great opportunity for fans to see the Gators for a reasonable price.

October 5 vs. Auburn

  • Average asking price/get-in price: $302/$152
The priciest game on the schedule, the Florida-Auburn rivalry dates to 1912, and Auburn holds an all-time series advantage of 43-38-2. Auburn has always led the series, and won the teams’ last meeting, 17-6, on October 15, 2011. Though both teams are founding members of the SEC, they are in different divisions and don’t play annually, making this matchup a treat for fans. Auburn has won the last three consecutive, though between 1990-2011, Florida has won 11 of 17.

November 9 vs. Vanderbilt

  • Average asking price/get-in price: $153/$79
Florida has won the last five consecutive of this rivalry, and holds a 40-10-2 all-time series advantage. The Gators won the last meeting, 37-27, at Nashville on October 13, 2018. The game is the third cheapest of the season at The Swamp. The teams first played in 1945.

November 30 vs. Florida State

  • Average asking price/get-in price: $289/$165
This in-state rivalry is between the two oldest public universities in Florida and is sometimes called the “Sunshine Showdown.” The teams first played in 1958, and Florida snapped a five-game Florida State win streak last season with a 41-14 victory at Tallahassee on November 24, 2018. The game is the second priciest of the season, behind only the Auburn game, and the $165 get-in price is the highest of any game this season.
