If they haven't fired you for being drunk and playing with yourself in the courtroom then I think you're pretty safe.....
I had a defendant do that. He had been in jail for a while and apparently had seen anything as nice as the cute elementary teacher in the front row. Took a while til the bailiff noticed, then they handcuffed him but put a jacket over his hands so the jury couldn't see him. He was a loon on a good day.

What we are looking at is the destruction of the integrity of college football. Give all the power to 17-19 year olds to dictate to universities how they will be paid and treated, along with their free ride of a 4-year degree of course - hell just fold up the tent.
They will be treated the same way as an English student, who can hunt for a better deal, but the academic rules (semester deadlines) will still be in place.

Would you dedicate money to an employee who quits halfway thru his previous job? What makes you think the next schools will?

I suspect his next school is D3. Hell, probably half our players that entered the portal were never seen again. It will be the same with this half ass full back pretending to be a Qb.

Kids have always been able to quit and did so or were kicked off in midseason. What exactly do you think is different now?

Kick his sorry ass to the moon
Personally, I find it hard to pick a side in these disputes. If he was promised X and was given X and is now trying to get more, then yeah; eff him. You made your deal; honor it.

But what if he was promised X and they only gave him 10% of X? Who wouldn’t be pissed in that situation? Especially if some other school offered him 95% of X and he woulda gotten all of It?

If that is the case, then eff him. Honor your contarct. If you work hard and improve, negotiate that on your next deal or when you move on. Just shows the commitment level. Wouldn't surprise me if he goes elsewhere and flames out. Let's see if he'll go play big boy football.

I see a lot of similar problems like this coming. The NCAA could have diverted this whole mess over the course of the last 20-25 years by addressing the problem for what it has been for decades.

Saw an article this morning about a starting DT at USC that's decided to take a red shirt and transfer.
That's coming for us too.
We have players right now avoiding that 4th game so they can redshirt.

There better be some major changes coming or these players will be even more free than NFL free agents.

I think, Contracts for players are coming. Actual iron clad, 3 or 4 year contracts.
So be it.

As usual the powers that be have gone 100% in the wrong direction.

College ball at its essence is supposed to be a game between the students of one school vs the students from another school. Calling most of these kids “students” is a joke. But rather than realize that the integrity of the institutions themselves is dangling by a thread over this completely obvious 21st century plantation dynamic and making a course correction back toward sanity, they decided to double down on the madness by allowing players to not only get paid but to transfer willy nilly from school to school like mercenaries.
The whole thing is beyond fuchsed.

It is however a perfect reflection of the FUBAR society we live in. These are the kids who will one day elect Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho president.

Did I just dream that the Gators have already played 4 games? I hope so, because it was a nightmare. :eek3: Assuming the players can still redshirt after playing 4 games and before the 5th game, the timing of the bye week is unfortunate.

They were busy working on rules to keep cream cheese and jelly off the bagels.

You want players off this team? Probably not many.

He only has 1 year of eligibility left. He is out now so he can redshirt and go somewhere else.
How likely would you be to hire a guy who just quit his last job?

You are fighting air. I was just pointing out why he isn't finishing out the season. I have no clue what right or wrong here is, its a he said she said for us at the moment. If he is really good and he ends up telling the truth he will probably land on a team somewhere. If he is really good and he ends up being a liar trying to get more money he will probably land on a team somewhere. My guess is he knows he isn't going to the NFL and is trying to squeeze as much out of his last 15 minutes as possible.

Yeah, I guess you must have missed the list of players that sat out last weeks game against State.
Those players are who my remark was aimed.

Yup, with clawback and/or buyout clauses.

Yup, and as I've said before, where we are today is just a natural progression over 100 years from intramural to intermural to scholarships to today.

And yet, this is exactly how especially white collar society operates today... "employee loyalty to the company" died slowly over the last 40 years after "company loyalty to the employee" died almost overnight in the '70's.

I do agree with Zambo regarding actual contracts. It's not about scholarships anymore (and as you know, there is nothing keeping a scholarship/stipend engineering student from jumping ship this afternoon to another university with a better offer). I think ROTC is probably the only thing on any campus where you sign a binding contract for your scholarship and there are "consequences" if you bail on the terms after a certain point in time.
