It can shoot down any projectile that comes within range. The biggest difference between real life and the video game is that it doesn't just sit there melting its own barrels by shooting for 30 straight seconds. Its always been a fascinating piece of tech to me. The following video explains it in better detail, but the cool thing is that it is fairly autonomous. It tracks a whole bunch of stuff, then when it wants to shoot something it uses a different antenna that not only tracks the target but also tracks the stream of outgoing rounds. This is the last piece of info it needs to correct for winds aloft and such, which lets it "walk" the outbound rounds onto the target. Pretty friggin cool. On a slightly humorous note, they actually use a few seconds of that video game footage in the marketing spiel.
The truly scary thing about suicide drones, and I've mentioned this here many times, is how easy it would be to deploy them within our own borders. Forget hijacking airliners and using truck bombs, just fly an explosive-laden drone into a crowded venue. Nightmare, and its coming.
The fire rate is pretty quick. I have seen up close and personal the fire support from a C-130 Spectre gunship. The light looks like a flexible light sabre. The scary thing is only 1 round out of 5 is a tracer, meaning for every round you see that is creating the light, there is 4 rounds you don't see. It tears up a lot of stuff.
