No misprint, 98 point win!

"COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Luke Kennard scored 30 points to help the United States rout Uruguay 156-58 on Friday night in the Americans' first game in the FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship. Kennard, from Franklin, Ohio, was 7-of-12 from 3-point range to tie the U.S. U-18 record for attempts.
"My teammates really helped me today by finding me in good spots," Kennard said. "I was kind of feeling it, but really without my teammates, I wouldn't have been able to score like that."
Jalen Brunson of Lincolnshire, Illinois, set the U.S. record for assists in the event with 13, and the team broke marks for points, margin of victory (98 points), field goals (59) and assists (40).
"I think the one thing we've been talking about is trying to play unselfishly, and they did that tonight," said U.S. coach Billy Donovan, also the Florida Gators coach. "Forty assists. They were really unselfish. They played well together. ... Their willingness to pass and share the basketball was special tonight.""

Saw this yesterday. He's developed into a tremendous coach. I really think he'll be asked to coach our Olympic team when Coach K hangs it up.

I didn't think there was enough time in a game to score 156 points. Kids are paying attention to Billy evidently...

Argentine is our next opponent...and usually considered our toughest challenger. If I'm not mistaken, Billy is now 16-0 in international play.

Are these games televised?
Don't believe so. I think you can watch online via the link I posted earlier.

You know Billy hasn't had a whole lot of success recruiting the highschool kids on the USA teams. Kind of surprising but it also says he has a lot of integrity for not tampering too much. He apparently can put other things aside and coach his ass off

I wondered about that...why doesn't this success and interaction attract some of these kids to the program?

I think it has. Beal and Frazier both played for him on the national team. I would suspect it will pay dividends moving forward.

Kids HAVE to be taking a closer look with all the success Billy has had at UF and coaching the USA teams. I mean at some point, it has to become obvious he's one of the best coaches out there, if not the very best.

But once recruiting advantage starts to show, won't protests occur that different coaches need to be selected each year ?

Ed Cooley of Providence and Sean Miller of Arizona are on the coaching staff. I think they like to keep the same staffs if they're doing well. We have U16, U17, U18 and U19 National teams.
