Why post a bunch of political spin by the twatwaffles?

Post the story if you are going to post the story.

Here is that actual story, which still has a bit of vagina hatting:

At least 12 deaths and several injuries at Virginia Beach municipal complex, police say; shooter also dead: reports

the suspected mass shooter who killed at least 11 people and injured at least six others at a municipal center in Virginia Beach on Friday afternoon was widely identified across social media as DeWayne Craddock. The Wall Street Journal also reported that the gunman was identified as DeWayne Craddock, a 40-year-old Black man who “made multiple firearm purchases in recent weeks.”

“This is the most devastating day in the history of Virginia Beach,” Mayor Bobby Dyer said after the shooting. “The people involved are our friends, co-workers, neighbors, colleagues.”

Cable news outlets described the shooter as being disgruntled and the Wall Street Journal reported that he was a “longtime city employee who had been fired entered a municipal building in Virginia Beach, Va., Friday afternoon to exact revenge.”

A web page on the MyLife.com listed information about a Virginia Beach resident named DeWayne Craddock as being 40 years old and having a birthday on Oct. 15, 1978. It lists him as a Black registered Democrat and Christian who is married.

The shooter died in an exchange of gunfire with police.

Heavy.com produced a photo of DeWayne Craddock that showed an image of a Black man.

If it does turn out that Craddock was the gunman, the fact that he is Black would offer a unique narrative surrounding the spate of mass shootings that have been taking place across the U.S. in recent years.

“Statistics show that since 1982, the majority of mass shootings — 54 percent — were committed by white men,” Newsweek reported while citing statistics on mass shootings compiled by Mother Jones. “Black people were the second largest perpetrators of mass shootings based on ethnic background, but only accounted for roughly 16 percent of the total incidents during the same time period.”

    ****

So whites are 54% and blacks are 16%. Any idea what the general population is?

NPR ran a long report this week on the efficacy of walking. Seven days of counting steps and several years of following the subjects (women). Turns out that walking 4000 steps a day made you 40 percent more likely to live through the study than only taking 2700 (from memory). Conclusion: walking is wonderful! No word on whether the women who only took 2700 steps did so because, being sick and dying, that was all they could take.
Are there any medical researchers or physicians on the board who know whether it is the studies which are dumb, or is it only the journalists who report them?

I worked out of the Orange County Administration building for 25 years. We had armed guards and metal detectors at all entrances. Employees could enter by scanning your badges, if you didn't have your badge you had to go through the metal detector even though we all knew the guards. I have been in government buildings in other municipalities with little or no security. I didn't mind all the security one bit.

          What, no "assault" rifle?

But if we ban those we're told these sort of things wouldn't happen..........

My daughter drove right by that building on her way to the beach around 4:05. My guess is he had just started shooting about that time. I wonder how many in that building have a CWP and left it in their vehicle or at home because they aren't allowed in that building? He went through 3 floors shooting people with a .45 ACP with extended mags and it ended in a big gunfight with 4 police officers, one of whom was also shot but survived because of his vest.

I don't trust Newsweek to accurately report anything, particularly anything involving statistics. Since Newsweek is citing Mother Jones as its reference source the statistics are particularly suspect. The New York Times (another unreliable source) stated that 75% of both victims and assailants of mass shootings were Black. See Link. It is possible that Newsweek and the NY Times have different definitions of a mass shooting. Since the majority of shootings involve Black victims and perpetrators they tend to be ignored by the media.

On the day of the synagogue shooting in California, there were at least nine other mass shootings. One of the shooters was Hispanic and the other eight were Black. This was not reported in the media. See Link.

Yes. So.......either Mr Craddock got it illegally or passed and extensive ATF investigation in order to have one.

                  Which requires a stamp.

Kinda' blows a gaping hole into the "we need expanded background checks" argument.

I had to go to Home Depot yesterday to buy a pick axe and I guarantee if I were looking to slaughter innocent people I could have gotten a dozen or so.....
Of course some people in the check out line switched to another line when I started talking like Carl from Sling Blade asking about biscuits and such....

I’ll answer - the US is 72% white, and 13% black based on self-identified race.

So clearly, blacks are significantly more likely to commit mass shootings per capita than whites. Seems that isn’t quite the “tone” of the article or our resident lefties, now is it.

                      hard to say.

that could be as simple as a 2 liter bottle or an oil filter.

You could see the exasperation when a reporter asked about the “silencer” and he corrected the reporter with “suppressor.”
