Who should Mullen's replacement be?

Also why the hell does every coach who comes here peak in the 2nd or 3rd year coaching up the former coach’s players before flaming out and leaving behind a dumpster fire for the next coach? Like if Mullen could win 10-11 games with Mac’s players and Mac could win 9-10 games with Muschamp’s players then why the hell couldn’t those guys just win with their own players? It is pretty bizarre.

Ive thought about this. First, we are just more talented than every team we play except Uga and LSU. So damn near ANY person you hire is going to go 10-2 unless they royally fuchs up.

The second issues is the rosters are actually more balanced in that 2nd maybe 3rd year. McElstain brought in a few holes to plug the gaps that Chimps defense only receuiting created. Mullinz brought in to fill a few of Sharky's recruiting, but he still benefitted from WR and QB who would never sign with Cousin Eddie to do QB keeper/ option offense.

Finally at some point the players just give up, seeing the losers for who they are, one of the primary impediments to their teams success, usually with predictable and ultracomservative playcalling, in Cousin Eddie's instance high risk low reward conservative playcalling.

Great points.

We definitely have like 8 (should be) wins baked into every schedule so anyone with a pulse should be able to win 9-10 games here. That is why I have zero worries over the question “but who would we get if we fire Mullen?” If Mac can win 9 games here anyone can.

The sad thing is that many of us (perhaps 50%+) tried and tried to tell everyone on this board and beyond what Cousin Eddie was and is. As much as we would have loved to be proven wrong, the odds were with us. Nothing will change until the entire administration is turned upside down. The best we can hope for is to get lucky on the coach, but our ceiling is limited due to the administration.

Exactly.

The entire place needs fumigated. All they are concerned about is how much football money they can stuff in the sofa or their own wallets.

I can see Dan and Stricklin getting canned, but what is the likelihood of Fuchs going? He's probably gonna make the AD hire right, or at least have a big say son in it?

Not Fuchs.

The AADs. The whole athletic dept needs fumigated.

It probably wont be. The best option is another AAD being brought in as a deputy or a Chief of Staff to keep those Fooley leftovers from fuchsing up everything.

I haven’t studied available coaches that much but lean to Luke Fickell. What’s his negatives?
Being Muschimp light who lost to Muschimp and won 6 games with a 12 win roster. Weak/averagish recruiter. Not much of a DC. Will be hostage to trying to keep any even semidecent OC (bc they will leave to become HCs).

No DCs ever. It's the kind of thing that happens at Iowas who are happy with 7-5 or 8-4.

You could just hire Muschimp back if you miss him so bad.

Well that was convincing…..perhaps I will rethink this.

I don’t really know there’s any sure-fire guy out there that we would be able to land. We COULD hire anyone we want, but we aren’t committed enough.
