Regardless of who is right, for Mertz to be "the next Joe Burrow" then Florida must first suffer through a mediocre first season with Mertz before he goes on an undefeated season tear, capped with a National Championship.

Doubt Mertz ever sees the field this year, our starter will be whoever we get in the portal after watching Mertz crap the bed all spring.

Like I’ve always said, Mertz has the potential to be a Heisman type QB

That would be great, IF it were to work that way.

But I would settle for a stable, confident QB that can just manage a game and not lose it.

That's how SOS , did it, Urbs did it, and it worked out. Is that too much to ask for?
