Kaepernick isn't interested in playing football any more. He only uses it as a way to keep his name in the headlines. If he was serious, he wouldn't be making 20 million dollar salary demands.

Easier to pretend to be a martyr, and not expose his lack of ability, then to get on the field and proof all the NFL scouts right.

Entertaining game so far. Probably better to be there. Have to listen to Levy and McElroy on the broadcast.

The QB play continues to be a train wreck. It is almost unwatchable for me.

I went to the game in DC yesterday. Great venue, they spent $500 million building a 20,000 seat stadium for the DC United. It was probably 60-70% full. I paid $55 for the tickets, which was a little over priced. The endzone seats were pretty full, but the more expensive seats were less full. We actually "snuck" into the club seats - which were right below the seats we were in (bigger, padded seats - plus there was a nice club level). Concession prices were ridiculous - $12 for a regular beer, $13-15 for a craft beer. Good crowd, great weather, the local bars were pretty packed w/ fans before the game (the stadium is right across from the Nats baseball park). I'll definitely go back.

A 40 year old Rex Grossman is a better QB then most of these guys.

Driskel is a lot better than some of the stiffs they are putting out there, Brantley would probably start for the Tampa Team

Report: Colin Kaepernick Discussed Joining XFL with $20M Contract Request

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick talked with XFL executives last fall about possibly playing for the league when it reboots in 2020, according to Sporting News' Michael McCarthy.

McCarthy notes Kaepernick was seeking at least $20 million to play in the XFL. That's a steep ask, given McCarthy reported that the league is looking to pay starting quarterbacks $250,000 per season.

This development comes after Barry Wilner of the Associated Press reported earlier this month that the Alliance of American Football—which debuted Feb. 9—sought to sign the controversial QB. Per Wilner, Kaepernick was seeking $20 million-plus from that startup league as well.

Kaepernick has not played football professionally since the 2016 NFL season. He completed just 59.2 percent of his passes for 2,241 yards, 16 touchdowns and four interceptions in 12 games for San Francisco in 2016, adding 468 yards and two scores on the ground.

Laughable on its face, but even more so when you consider, isn't this guy a rabid socialist? Communist, even? Let's see...XFL QB salaries were expected to be in the $250k range, and he wanted $20 million. So if my math is correct (caution: it rarely is), this man of the people was demanding to be paid 8000% of what other workers doing the same job were making? Sounds about right.

You’re just saying these disparaging things about Kap because he took a knee for what he believed in & because you’re a bigoted prick! You can’t handle the fact that the man stood up (by kneeling) for a cause. Truth!

Had you bothered to do some research on the issue, you would have known that Kap was planning on dividing the $20 mill up equally amongst all other XFL QBs so they each received the same amount. You really ought to be ashamed of yourself, you good for nothing Archie Bunker!

Okay, I’ll repost what I posted during the week 1 games (my original post was lost when Ox’s server went haywire). Paraphrasing here, but the games were very good, extremely entertaining and the quality of player was nearly NFL level.

No, all kidding aside, it sucked. There were a bunch of stiffs out there and it was boring as hell to watch, After 5 minutes, I turned on Shawshank Redemption. Despite having seen Shawshank about 200 times already, I found it much more compelling & entertaining. Why did they call him Red? Was he really Irish? Black Irish maybe (look it up)? And what was the joke Andy was making regarding the rock hammer? I’m still wondering about these unanswered questions. Inquiring minds want to know.

Back to the XFL, here’s how I think this plays out. The quality of play isn’t high enough to challenge the NFL and it’s getting more difficult to capture the eyeballs & time of busy people. Coming on TV right after the Super Bowl, I just don’t see enough people wanting to spend 3 hours of their time (in person or via television) watching mediocre players that couldn’t make it in the preeminent league.

I think they have more financial resources this time around so they will last a couple of seasons but they will eventually fold (2-3 at most). They won’t be a minor league system for the NFL. College football currently serves in that role & the NFL doesn’t need Vince McMahon to set that up for them. If they really wanted a true farm league apart from the NCAA, they could set it up themselves and do it better & cheaper.

Ultimately, the XFL may produce a few good novelty ideas that the NFL implements in their league, like what happened the 1st time around. Cameras on wires crisscrossing the field is one prior example. Maybe we’ll get to hear the helmet mike conversations between the OC & the QB in NFL games in the future. Other than that, this league won’t make it...unless they can rope a big, content hungry tech company like an Amazon into a deal to live stream the games. Other than that, the XFL is not compelling enough to make it.

The first two seasons are going to be the hardest especially with the abbreviated schedule. How can an offense get any rhythm when they are going to barely play, if they get through a few seasons and the teams are together for a little bit. It might work, but that is going to be a lot of lost revenue by the owners in order to get there.

They need to lower the ticket prices. The premium seats in DC are well over $100. Nobody wants to pay that. The endzone seats are affordable, and they were 90+% full - but the sideline seats were more than 50% empty. They should drop the prices at least 25% and that would get more people in the stadium.

I agree w/ the offense issue. Not sure how to fix it. I'm hoping the NFL buys a stake and subsidizes it. It could be a true developmental league, especially for OL's.
