It's been a bucket list item to see the northern lights. Apparently this past week has been spectacular in North America even. Some of the photos from Michigan, Alaska and South Dakota have had amazing color.

Definite bucket list item for me as well. I was hoping to see them in October 2021 when I was sent up to Anchorage for work. It was too cloudy though so I wasn't able to... Someday though,...someday

So Kentucky is literally surrounded by 4 border states that can all see it, but cannot itself? Embarrassing effort.
Purely to piss me off and cause Seedy to take me on another trip off to chase tilted windmills one day. He'll be thrilled to hear about it too.

When stationed in Oscoda MI and flying the northern tier, the Aurora lit up the sky a lot. Amazing sight. Could never get enough of it. The only other phenomenon that comes close is St. Elmo's fire and ball lightning. Slipping the surly bonds tantalizes your physical senses.

Supposed to have been visible in Ft. Collins, but we didn't get a chance to see them.

Welp, it finally happened! We got to see some lights in KY. It sounds like a lot of the US had them last night from the solar flare. However the night vision on the camera picked it up better than the eye. Pics are spectacular but irl it wasn’t anything like the photos.

Bucket list item for me too. And damned if they weren't putting on a show in Jax last night. Predictions were that they wouldn't get anywhere near this far South, so I wasn't looking for them. Well, so much for predictions.

Tonight it's possible, probably not likely, again but since I'll be looking out for them they won't happen.

I've spent at least two months north of the Arctic Circle. Never saw them.

We got to see them and like '46 said, bucket list item. Not sure why but some friends from church were able to get better pics than we did. Ours were very similar to those CD posted, meh. Our friend's from church pics were pretty spectacular though.
