I can't believe anyone thinks that he isn't actively lobbying for this job.

Does anyone think he wants the OSU fiasco and getting booted mid-year from the NFL to be his swan song?

He wants this job, and he should get it. It can't possibly be worse than this **** show.

It’s funny that Lane has such a dicey rep in recruiting. When he was OC/recruiting coordinator for Pete Carroll, USC finished 20, 8, 2, 2, 1, and 1 before he left for Oakland. He knows what and how to do it, he just hasn’t had that elite class like at USC. At Oxford, he has been lethal in the portal but barely top 20 in HS Recruiting

The USC recruiting record had as much to do with Coach O as it did Kiffin, who's at best a so-so recruiter. He'll need help in that area wherever he goes.

He’s got a better chance of winning the lottery than having a winning record next year. No way we’re favored in more than 2-3 games and we know he’s not out-coaching anyone except for maybe the retard on Rocky Flop.
He's already won the lottery - the UF head coaching gig, $7 million a year and low expectations from his boss.

If he comes to Florida and acts like he did in Jacksonville it could get much worse.

Another "coordinator", another "Lower division", another "up and comer", and the further our program sinks in the doldrums.
See this is absolutely not true. I point you to the stink coming from Athens. As an AD, you have to evaluate talent, same as any hiring manager. You ask questions and most importantly, (I know this from experience) you don't ignore red flags. There were plenty of questions and red flags with regards to Napier, Mullen, and McElwain. Muschamp not so much, he was on everybody's radar.

The AD can't be lazy or panicked about the process. And in the last 3 hires, I think you can see both.

Lane wouldnt be my first choice, but id certainly hire him with some stipulations that he go out and get the absolute best DC possible and let that guy assemble the defensive staff, then place as much of an emphasis on defensive crootin as the other side of the ball. I'd also stipulate that crootin season is 24/7, 365 and b/c of that a top notch crootin coordinator and personnel will be employed to run the day to day, and that he needs to determine an asst HC who is an absolute monster recruiter and let him head the effort since we know lane isnt going to want to croot like a kirby or a saban does.

i think with those things agreed upon and enacted, kiffin could be a big time player.
If you have to talk a head coach into the importance of defense and recruiting, ain't that a huge red flag? At this point in his career, shouldn't he already know this?

He isnt actively lovbying for the job. There are too many other places that will pay better, give him every staff/monetary advantage etc., and have much easier paths to a championship.

I think he will get bored eventually but it wont be to return to UF. He knows we handcuff our coaches.

Take off your O&B glasses, he isn't lobbying for this job. He knows there are better jobs right now with this current administration.

I don’t know whether he is lobbying for the job or not, but I can say with 100% certainty that if he were even considering the job, his first demand would be that those handcuff wielding morons be gone. And he has a big enough name to get his wish. Also, from a public perception standpoint, I wouldn’t discount Spurrier and his influence as well. He’s a Gator and can’t be happy with what he’s seeing happen to the program he built.

Spurrier as new AD.
Meyer as new Coach.

But...Napier or Stricklin aint getting fired anytime soon because UF Admin dont care about football as much as they used to care about football.

Explain the blank check they just gave to a guy who probably rode up on a big wheel.

Again, I’m not doubting that they’d prefer not giving football the attention, but their hands were forced and the infrastructure is there. Donors aren’t content to sit and watch football go down the drain. They’ve shown that by repeatedly stepping up for buyouts, now NIL and facilities.

NIL and buyouts and facilities dont come from UAA money...it comes from donors. Notice ole scotty boy sitting in that fancy baseball stadium built with football $

I understand. What I’m saying is for years we didn’t have the commitment. That all changed when Mullen was dismissed. Stricklin admitted as much in his introductory press conference. The focus is there. The facilities are there. NIL is a work in progress but is there. We need a coach. If Napier doesn’t pan out and knock it out of the park this upcoming season, it won’t be because he didn’t have the support of the administration.
