That’s true. I wouldn’t expect them to say much if anything different. You do want to improve and you do want sell it to each other and sell the program to the fans etc.
It would be better if they just said, “We’ll know if it was a good offseason in November“ and left it at that. Don’t even waste your breath. Get angry and stay angry. Put it all into your workouts and film studies.
But these puff pieces will flow until September. And…

Fellas, these guys have jobs. They have to provide content or no one makes money. I think they are a waste of time as well, but every damn football program has these guys and they all do offseason puff pieces. I just don't read them.

This is going to be the longest offseason EVER!
There's going to analysis, puff pieces, pod casts, projections, predictions, and so forth. There will be articles that project improvement and some doom. We are nowhere but in the wait and see what happens mode. I can certainly see that things are not good and analysis shows that maybe things get better. But WTF knows exactly what will happen. I surely hope for the best and want that more than anything. But at this point......like I said wait and see.
Unfortunately, I can see where things don't get better. And also see where there could be improvement. If the latter happens, great. If not I have no problem with the chips falling where they may with this staff.

Oh just wait until Shane starts twitting about "this is a better team" "offensive line is far superior to last year" and some of the other drunken drivel he spouted off about last August....many in here lost their ever lovin minds and were predicting 9-10 wins before last year....it took about the first quarter of the Utah game to put that garbage to rest....

You are 100% correct. These articles are garbage that serve to justify paying a beat writer year round.
My favorites are the ones in the summer about what a special bond the team has developed with an atmosphere of a family or, dare I say it, a band of brothers.
The only difference is that this band of brothers lose together.

It's funny to hear the difference in Shane on his radio show, and Shane on the game day color analysis. The offense isn't the problem on the radio show. GameDay: "Why the hell aren't we throwing to the receiver who is in one on one coverage, the center of the field is open, we can throw more than 10 yards down the field."

He's just a guy that knows we have more than enough players to compete, but can't wrap his mind around the fact that playcalling and game strategy can essentially nullify that. I suspect he'll come to that realization shortly after this next season begins.
